Director of Education (Limud - Hebrew School)

Congregation Tifereth Israel—a growing, vibrant and engaged Jewish community—seeks an innovative and dedicated Director of Education to lead our Limud (Hebrew School) program. The ideal candidate will be a passionate, creative, and inspiring leader committed to fostering a love of Judaism, Jewish language and culture, and Israel. Our Limud Director must possess exceptional communication and organizational skills for effectively collaborating with teaching staff, parents, and students. This role demands a strategic thinker who will work in close partnership with the Rabbi on curriculum development, classroom activities, and experiential learning initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development: In collaboration with the Rabbi, provide leadership and guidance to instructors in strengthening and enriching the Hebrew School curriculum. Foster creative and engaging teaching methodologies that cater to diverse learning styles.
Instructional Leadership: Be a role model for commitment to excellence in Jewish education. Observe and assess student progress and achievement, providing constructive feedback and support to instructors.
Mentoring: Work with Limud Youth Group(s) and student leaders to develop deeper connections between their Limud education and daily lives.
Communication and Collaboration: Maintain clear, consistent, and effective communication with teaching staff, parents, and students. Foster a collaborative, supportive Limud environment.
Financial Management: Be actively involved in ensuring the timely collection of tuition fees and work closely with the synagogue administration on budgetary matters related to the Hebrew School.
Program Administration: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Hebrew School, including scheduling, student registration, and classroom management.
Visionary Leadership: Provide innovative leadership in developing and implementing new programs and initiatives that enhance the educational experience for our students.
Qualifications – Our next Education Director will possess:
- Experience in Jewish education and educational leadership
- Strong knowledge of Jewish traditions and values
- Knowledge of, and experience with, strategies for assessing student progress and implementing methods for improvement
- Experience in curriculum development and a passion for innovative teaching methods
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Administration, or a related field
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary Range $75,000-$85,000 commensurate with experience
