Position Summary

Are you passionate about teaching Torah and inspiring Jewish teens? The Seattle NCSY City Director role is a part-time opportunity to help rebuild and reenergize the Seattle NCSY chapter. You'll create meaningful experiences for teens, foster a warm and welcoming Jewish community, and make a lasting impact on the next generation.
We’re looking for someone who loves sharing Torah, thrives on building relationships, and is eager to connect with teens, families, and community leaders. This role emphasizes quality over quantity—prioritizing deep learning, meaningful relationships, and impactful leadership development. The City Director will work closely with the West Coast Regional Director and collaborate with the Regional Director of Development to strengthen NCSY’s presence and grow the chapter.

Core Responsibilities

Teen Engagement & Program Development

  • Share Torah teachings with warmth and relevance.
  • Lead informal learning experiences such as Latte & Learn, Lunch & Learn, and evening chavruta-style study sessions.
  • Host Shabbat meals, holiday celebrations, and other events that foster pride and belonging.
  • Plan and run 1–2 chapter-wide events per month, including social gatherings, service projects, or engaging educational experiences.
  • Organize 1–2 local Shabbatons per year to deepen community bonds.

Chapter Rebuilding & Leadership

  • Re-establish the Seattle NCSY chapter’s identity and presence as a vibrant part of the Jewish community.
  • Support and mentor day school student leaders in developing a teen-led chapter board.
  • Cultivate a core group of motivated teens to take on leadership roles regionally and nationally (e.g., JSU-LI, summer programs).
  • Encourage Seattle teens to participate in NCSY regional and summer programs.

Community Engagement & Donor Relations

  • Build strong relationships with day school faculty, local rabbis, parents, and community professionals.
  • Partner with the Director of Development to identify and engage local donors and lay leaders.
  • Communicate NCSY’s impact through newsletters, social media, and community updates, showcasing teen growth and success.

Regional & National Programs

  • Recruit for and attend West Coast Shabbatons, the JSU Presidents Conference, and NCSY Summer programs to connect teens with the broader NCSY family.
  • Identify 5–10 teens annually to attend national programs like TJJ, helping them build lifelong connections and memories.

Administrative Duties

  • Maintain accurate records of teen engagement and program attendance using NCSY’s database.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Office on planning, scheduling, and managing the chapter’s budget.

Sample Weekly Schedule (10–15 hours/week)

  • Lead 1–2 informal learning programs
  • Host 1–2 evening events or teen meetings per month
  • Spend 2–4 hours on relationship-building with parents, donors, and community partners
  • Allocate time for planning, outreach, and administrative tasks
  • Weekly check-in with the West Coast Regional Director

Qualifications

  • Warm, personable, and a natural connector
  • Experience in informal Jewish education or teen mentorship
  • Passion for sharing Torah and engaging teens
  • Organized, proactive, and community-oriented
  • Familiarity with the Seattle Jewish community is a plus
