We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and innovative self-starter to fill the role of part-time Education Director at Temple B'nai Abraham (TBA) a Reconstructionist synagogue with 50+ member families and over 100 year history in Bordentown, NJ. We are a diverse and inclusive community.
Our rich history and small class size (current enrollment is 12) lends itself to innovation and community-style learning, however because we are small, we can tailor the learning to the students. There is flexibility to craft programs and discussions that suit the interests of the students, and we have the ability to meet the needs of students who might get "over-looked" in bigger Hebrew schools, including our many interfaith families.
Our core curriculum of liturgy, holidays and Hebrew is enriched with Jewish spiritual and cultural values. The Education Director is our most community oriented position and often acts as the "greeter" for prospective member families.
Key responsibilities:
Working in close partership with our Rabbi and lay leadership, the Education Director develops, oversees and administers the Hebrew School program.
- Lead, develop, and administer TBA's religious school program that provides Jewish education to students from Kindergarten through their B'nai Mitzvahs (7/8th grade) currently held twice a week on Sunday mornings and Thursday afternoons
- Organize some family Shabbat services, Tot Shabbats and family celebrations around the holidays, engaging with the community connecting with families and faciitating meaninful experiences within the synagogue.
- Supervise volunteer teachers and assitants, delegating responsibilities in the classroom setting as necessary
