The Caseworker provides resettlement and case management services to emigrating individuals and families who have resettled in the Bay area as assigned, including assessment, development, and monitoring of a plan, crisis intervention, and supportive services.

*LOCAL candidates only.  NO relocation is available*  (This position can be based out of any of our offices in Palo Alto, San Mateo, San Francisco or San Rafael) 

 

Who Are You?

  • Have a master’s degree from an accredited school of social work or equivalent training and/or experience
  • Preferably have 2 years of demonstrated experience in casework with Russian-speaking Émigré population
  • Have proven ability to provide social work services
  • Are knowledgeable and experienced in cross-cultural social service work required
  • Are bilingual Russian/English
  • Have interest and/or experience in immigration and refugee issues, desire to work in the immigration area, and good writing and advocacy skills
  • Have the ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Are knowledgeable  of Jewish culture and community, as well as of special community resources required
  • Have the COVID-19 Vaccination card by date of hire (JFCS will provide reasonable accommodations to those individuals who are unable to be vaccinated for COVID-19 consistent with federal, state, and local law)

What Will You Do?

  • Provides a comprehensive assessment of individuals and families requiring case management services as assigned
  • Formulates family’s plan for initial resettlement including coordination of housing, English study, employment search, obtaining government benefits, school enrollment, medical care, financial assistance and other needs as determined by client assessment
  • Provides ongoing casework services to émigré clients and their families, including crisis intervention, counseling, information and referral, enrollment in community programs and benefits, concrete services, and follow-up
  • Develops strong working relationships with staff in JFCS Legal Services and other Jewish and non-Jewish community organizations involved in supporting resettlement activities to ensure that clients’ needs are met
  •  Works closely with volunteer program managers and acts as a liaison between volunteers and assigned families, facilitating volunteer activity in support of the family’s resettlement plan
  • Completes required documentation for case management cases timely and in accordance with Agency standards and perform other administrative tasks
