Position Summary
As a Program Facilitator, you’ll inspire the next generation to combat hate and build a more inclusive world by delivering AJCF’s transformative education programs to schools and community partners across New York City and surrounding areas. Reporting to the Program Director and collaborating with the Education team, you will bring AJCF’s curriculum—focused on Holocaust education, digital hate, and combating antisemitism—to life through engaging classroom sessions, interactive workshops, and community events. Examples of programs include workshops on identifying online hate speech and discussions on the historical roots of prejudice.
This is a per diem, on-call position beginning with comprehensive paid training (approximately 10-15 hours). Facilitation opportunities are scheduled throughout the academic year, with an estimated 5-20 hours per month based on school demand.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, age-appropriate AJCF programs using multimedia tools (e.g., videos, interactive slides) and participatory learning strategies.
- Support program logistics, including scheduling, classroom setup, and distributing materials.
- Assist with on-site coordination during visits by elected officials, dignitaries, or partner organizations.
- Proactively identify and communicate classroom challenges or participant concerns to the Program Director.
- Track session outcomes and contribute to data collection for program evaluation and impact reporting.
- Represent AJCF at community events, professional development trainings, and workshops as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in teaching, public speaking, or facilitation with middle- and high-school students (e.g., leading classroom discussions, youth workshops, or community programs on sensitive topics like antisemitism, prejudice, or digital hate).
- Strong ability to foster inclusive, respectful, and dynamic discussions that engage diverse learners and address complex social issues.
- Proficiency with digital learning tools (PowerPoint, SmartBoard, Zoom, Teams) to deliver interactive, multimedia-based programs.
Fluency in having an operational understanding of major social media platforms, such as Tik Tok
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice, Holocaust education, or combating hate (e.g., prior work in education, advocacy, or community organizing focused on anti-hate initiatives).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; adaptable in fast-paced, diverse school environments.
- Ability to travel throughout NYC and surrounding areas.
- Comfortability working closely with diverse communities, Multi - lingual a plus, particularly with regards to Spanish or Mandarin.
Work Conditions & Schedule
- Per diem, on-call schedule aligned with academic calendars; expect variable hours, ranging from 1-6 hours per session.
- Programs are primarily in-person across NYC schools, with occasional evening or weekend community events.
- Fingerprinting or background checks may be required by partner schools (AJCF will guide you through the process if necessary).
Compensation & Benefits
- $50–$60 per hour, based on experience.
