Description

RUACH is a Jewish movement-studio nonprofit organization — and Hebrew College campus partner — seeking a dynamic fundraising leader for long-term growth.

Job Description:

The role of Director of Development (20 hours/week) will design, implement, and lead fundraising strategy in partnership with the organization's leadership and board. This role will be crucial in building a long-term strategic growth plan to guide RUACH’s progress from start-up organization to sustainable institution, as well as attracting near-term gifts and grants. Along with effective fundraising skills, we are seeking a collaboratively-minded leader and thought partner to amplify our mission. This role has the potential to grow into a full-time position as RUACH’s budget develops (currently approx. $300,000/year).

The Director of Development’s role will include:

  • Individual Donor Relations — Identify and steward prospective donors, including designing a major gifts campaign to support the organization’s immediate growth; cultivating relationships with current donors; creating and implementing a strategy for grassroots community giving.

  • Grant Proposals — Develop and execute grant proposals and budgets for possible foundation and corporate partners; collaborate with organizational partners on joint proposals.

  • Board Development Committee — Co-create and manage the Board’s Development Committee, in partnership with the Committee Chair.

  • Gift Administration — Create and maintain systems for processing and tracking gifts.

  • Strategic Growth — Collaborate with organizational leadership on long-term growth strategy, including the cultivation of a Development Department.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years experience in non-profit development, communications, special events, customer service, or relevant work.

  • Minimum of two years in a management role or project management experience.

  • Demonstrated commitment to Diversity and Inclusion.

  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.

  • Developed problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including impeccable proofreading ability.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative team setting, adapting to changes and opportunities.

  • Strong time management and initiative, with the ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines.

  • Sensitivity to working with personal or private information with trustworthiness and professionalism.

  • Experience with donor database systems and budget management.

  • Excellent computer skills and experience with Mac (fluency in Word, Excel, G Suite, experience with PowerPoint or Keynote, InDesign a plus).

  • Knowledge of and commitment to community building and movement studios is a plus.

HOURS

This position requires a 20 hour/week schedule. Apart from regularly scheduled team meetings, the allocation of those hours will be left to the discretion of the Director of Development. This position will require working occasional evenings and weekends for fundraising and organization events. This position allows for significant remote work, with the expectation of periodic on-site commitments (with travel paid for by RUACH on a monthly or quarterly basis, should the position be filled by a candidate based outside the Greater Boston Area).

SALARY + BENEFITS

  • Salary is $32,000.

  • Paid time off (vacation and sick days) without limit at employee’s discretion. The RUACH office is closed on Jewish and federal holidays.

  • Free Monthly Unlimited RUACH studio membership.

  • Possible additional benefits to be determined upon RUACH’s fiscal independence; RUACH is currently fiscally sponsored by Hebrew College.

APPLICATION AND HIRING PROCESS

  • Please submit a copy of your resume at this link. Please include a brief statement of interest in the position, as well as two references.

  • Those being considered will be contacted by email/phone for an initial interview. Applications are due March 31, 2024. The position will begin in May 2024.

As a community health organization, RUACH sees the well-being of its team members as a core priority. We are committed to setting ourselves up for success by creating roles that fit within agreed upon working hours.
