Role Overview

Penn State Hillel seeks an energetic development professional based in Philadelphia with 2-4 years’ experience to serve as our Advancement Associate. The Advancement Associate is a new position for Penn State Hillel and will be a key player in cultivating Penn State Hillel’s foundation of loyal donors and creating a pipeline for our next tier of transformative gifts. The primary function of the Advancement Associate will be to use data-informed prospect research to drive individual donor outreach, implement a robust stewardship program including social media, managing monthly communications and periodic mailed pieces, and oversight of all data projects.

The Advancement Associate will be a critical member of an energetic team focused on the implementation of the Annual Advancement Plan. The successful candidate will be a key player in identifying and acknowledging the current and future transformative donors of Penn State Hillel. You will utilize your skills to uncover new opportunities for frontline staff and volunteers, manage digital platforms and supervise student interns, and navigate data to ensure accuracy for all outreach and reporting. You will take part in expanding the brand recognition of Penn State Hillel to current and future stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity to make an immediate impact on the lives of more than 5,000 Jewish students at Penn State University. This person will report to the Director of Institutional Advancement and be based in the Philadelphia, PA area.

What You’ll Do

?    Identify current donors with potential for growth or new prospects with significant capacity and inclination to increase face-to-face donor visits for frontline staff
?    Lead and oversee giving societies to acknowledge donor impact
?    Create opportunities to communicate the student experience through monthly newsletters and other innovative methods
?    Use reporting tools to measure and monitor the progress of the overall campaigns in order to meet or exceed fundraising goals
?    Find multi-channeled approaches to show appreciation to current donors and prospects
?    Oversee the creation of digital and social media campaigns on several platforms; optimize copy, images/video, and audiences with support of interns
?    Provide supervision and mentoring to student marketing and data interns

What You’ll Bring to the Job

?    Candidates must have an undergraduate degree; 2-4 years of development work experience required
?    Excellent written communication skills
?    Superior organizational, planning and project management skills; must be detail-oriented
?    Understanding of audience segmentation and using data to inform decision-making
?    Familiarity using a database or CRM to build reports and/or segment audiences
?    Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically in order to reach goals
?    Experience creating content for digital and social media
?    Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
?    Connection to Jewish life and/or Hillel
