First Hebrew Congregation is a small, Conservative synagogue located in Peekskill, New York, about 45 miles north of Manhattan. We are looking for someone to help build a cohort of young Jewish families and educate their children, ages 2-5. Classes center on Shabbat, holidays, and Jewish values through music, dance and crafts. Creativity and organizational skills are needed to provide entertaining and educational experiences for children and their parents.
1 hour sessions occur 2-3 times per month, some on Shabbat and some on Sundays. (Candidates may apply for Sundays alone, Shabbat alone, or both.)
Knowledge of Jewish holidays, Shabbat, and basic Hebrew; have creative talent; and experience with toddlers. Candidates with community building experience preferred.
Starting salary is $100 per session plus travel expenses.
