Repair is building a national Jewish service movement that mobilizes young adults to serve in their communities, catalyzes service through deep partnerships within Jewish communal organizations, and inspires people to take action through time-bound thematic national service campaigns, digital engagement, and service. Our mission provides volunteers with an increased connection to meaningful service and learning as a Jewish value, builds capacity for nonprofit partners to meet their missions, and deepens connections across lines of difference.
Position Overview
Are you a relationship driven individual who thrives in a learning and iterating environment in partnership with local community professionals, donors, and lay leaders? Repair the World is seeking a passionate and experienced development professional to serve as a Regional Development Director in this unique moment of expansion and growth. Entering a fast-paced, growth-focused, and mission-driven organization, the Regional Development Director will strategize, increase, and diversify philanthropic support for Repair across four Repair communities (currently the Bay Area, Colorado, Pittsburgh, and Los Angeles) and through one national cross-functional area of specialty.
As a leader on the development team, this Regional Development Director will collaborate closely with the Regional Director, local program staff, national strategy (development, marketing & communications, digital, data) team, and executive leadership to share the story of Repair’s local impact and meet the funding needs. They will have an ability to engage new prospects and lay leaders, clearly communicate our organization’s mission, build strong relationships, make strategic asks, and effortlessly move from high-level strategic thinking to frontline solicitation and stewardship with institutions (foundations, federations, corporate donors, etc.) and individuals.
This position is on Repair’s national team and reports to the Senior Director of Philanthropy. The ideal candidate lives in one of the communities in the region (the Bay Area, Pittsburgh, Colorado, or Los Angeles). They will be a self-starting, entrepreneurial, adept at change, energetic, collaborative, and goal-oriented fundraiser who doesn’t shy away from a challenge.
Position Responsibilities
Regional Giving Strategy & Stewardship
- Create and implement a regional development strategy to achieve local funding revenue targets in regional communities.
- Collaborate with the Regional Director and the Senior Director of Philanthropy on regional goal setting and tracking through Salesforce.
- Provide support to the Regional Director and executive team engaged in regional development activities through portfolio development, strategic thought partnership, donor communications support, preparing funder briefings and materials, attending meetings, and supporting stewardship.
- Cultivate relationships with new and current individual and institutional donors through a stewardship process you will customize to each donor.
- Cultivate a robust prospect pipeline through prospect research and screening, attending events, collaborating with teams on grants, developing relationships with donors, stewardship, and personalized engagement plans.
- In partnership with the Regional Director and with local staff’s support, lead local volunteer advisory councils to support fundraising efforts.
- Support cultivation and stewardship of local Advisory Councils and other lay leaders.
- Collaborate with local staff on site visits, engagement opportunities, and events.
- Collaborate with the Regional Director and Chief Strategy Officer on implementing an expansion-focused funding strategy for new markets and programs in the region.
Development Strategy & Cross-functional Leadership
- Provide national cross-functional development support and lead on key national development priorities in one area of specialty - major gifts, foundations, special events, or secular funding.
- Across regional and cross-functional giving, meet monthly, quarterly, and annual giving benchmarks and goals, based on activity with prospects/donors and dollars raised.
- Support storytelling efforts throughout the region, collaborating with local program staff and national strategy team (marketing & communications, digital, development, and data) to enhance local brand awareness and storytelling including press.
- Staff advisory councils of local lay leaders who meet quarterly and focus on fundraising, brand awareness, and program support.
- Track and report progress and relationships in Salesforce using specific metrics and analyze goals on a quarterly basis with the broader development team.
- Serve as an enthusiastic and well-informed spokesperson for Repair the World.
Position Requirements and Skills
We know that you may not have all the skills listed below and we encourage you to apply if you meet the majority of the requirements.
- 5+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience with strength in cultivating and closing gifts from individuals, foundations, federations, and Jewish and secular funders.
- Comfort and proven track record as a frontline solicitor, with demonstrated success in closing four and five-figure gifts.
- Track record of successfully identifying new donors and creating a donor journey that inspires further giving and partnership.
- Ability to seize opportunities, guide strategy alongside execution, manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously, and thrive in both an independent and team-driven environment.
- The ability to learn from successes and mistakes, evaluate next steps, iterate, and activate on lessons learned.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to connect with executive and non-profit leaders; storytelling; skills in relationship building across communities.
- Experience with Salesforce (or similar fundraising database), DonorSearch (or similar wealth screening tool), Google Suite, and prospect research.
- Passion for Repair the World’s mission and sophisticated awareness of Jewish life and community, poverty, structural racism, power, and privilege.
- Embrace Repair the World’s organizational values that guide our work with the frame of repairing the world, tikkun olam) leading to the pursuit of justice, tzedek.
- Experience developing relationships, connections, and fundraising with the Jewish communities in the region.
- Ability to travel within the US as needed when safe to do so.

Compensation
Compensation at Repair the World is determined based on the salary band for the role and adjusted based on cost of living where the final candidate resides. The ideal candidate lives in Los Angeles, the Bay Area, or Colorado, or in reasonable proximity to those locations. For candidates with 5+ years of development experience, compensation for this role starts at between $80,000 - $105,000 depending on your community of residence. Benefits package includes paid time off for service in addition to vacation and holidays, employer pays 100% for employee medical/dental/vision coverage and 50% for dependents, retirement matching, and professional development funds. In addition, employees that have been with Repair for at least six months are eligible for 16 weeks of paid parental leave.

- Applicants moved forward will have a first round screening with a member of Repair’s People & Culture team.
- Applicants that move forward from a first round interview will have a second round interview with the Senior Director of Philanthropy and a Regional Director.
- The final round interview will be with Repair’s Chief Strategy Officer and a colleague from the Strategy team.
- Two professional references will be requested before the final round of the interview process.
