POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Manager of Finance Operations plays a key role as the right hand to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Momentum Unlimited, a global nonprofit Jewish communal organization. This role ensures that projects led by the CFO move efficiently through all stages and are completed on time. The Manager of Finance Operations will also provide direct support to the CFO in managing key projects, scheduling, board relations, and the development of presentations. Additionally, this role will assist with finance and administrative tasks, HR initiatives, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures. This requires someone to showcase a high level of confidentiality, attention to detail, organization, and professionalism. This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week in the Rockville, Maryland office.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Develop and enforce workflows and processes to streamline project progression from beginning to completion.
  • Manage work process flows in project management software and oversee the flow of assigned projects and initiatives within the work of the CFO.
  • Support the CFO in managing global finance and administration projects, cross-functionally and with outside vendors.
  • Support vendor management, contract negotiations, and procurement processes to support business operations.
  • Develop and manage budgets for operational activities, monitoring expenditures and guaranteeing cost-effective management of resources.
  • Support compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in all business operations.
  • Assist the CFO in preparing high-level presentations, financial reports, and other materials for board meetings and executive-level communications.
  • Assist the CFO with board relations, including managing board subcommittees, preparing materials for meetings, and maintaining effective communication with board members and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in strategic planning and decision-making by providing data-based insights on operational performance.
  • Collaborate with the finance department to streamline the Accounts Payable process, completing accurate data entry, timely invoice processing, and communication with vendors.
  • Support HR projects such as employee onboarding, talent management, and other organizational initiatives.
  • Oversee the CFO’s schedule by managing meeting logistics, developing and distributing agendas, timely follow-ups, and resolving scheduling conflicts as needed.
  • Coordinate travel logistics for the CFO, including both national and international arrangements, handling itineraries, reservations, and expense reporting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • A minimum of five plus years related experience including working with C-Suite or Director level leadership roles; prior experience working with nonprofit or community-based agencies is preferred.
  • Background experience in fields including finance, paralegal, insurance, or operations management preferred.   
  • PC literacy with strong competency in all Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and Outlook.
  • Strong PowerPoint or other presentation platform skills required including experience developing executive-level presentations
  • Strong project management skills and Project Management software experience required, Asana is preferred
  • Experience with CRM software, Salesforce preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with proven organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with competing demands.
  • Ability to use independent judgment in resolving various problems.
  • Ability to maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills – strong writing and proven proofreading.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, and actively seek opportunities.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with donors, colleagues, volunteers, and VIP level constituents.
  • Ability to work irregular hours including occasional nights and Sundays that involve organizational events and meetings.

This is an exempt position. The salary range is $75,000 - $85,000 annually, depending on relevant experience.
