Position Summary

Helfman Religious School at Congregation Emanu El is seeking a friendly and organized individual to serve as our Sunday School receptionist. The role will involve greeting students and families, managing front desk operations, and providing limited administrative support in a busy school environment. This position will require in-person work from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sundays, while School is in session, from September through May. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

• Greet families at the religious school in a friendly and professional manner. Seek to assist families and provide information to families.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Attend to telephone calls promptly and efficiently, record messages accurately, forward calls and /or records and forward messages accurately.
• Coordinate with security.
• Maintain a safe and clean reception area.
• Assist with related clerical duties such as photocopying, collating, and filing.
• Assist in special projects as requested.

Congregation Emanu El is a Reform synagogue of approximately 1,600 member families in Houston, Texas, near the Museum District and Rice University. Our Helfman Religious School has a student body of approximately 450 students in grades PreK3-12. 

Our educational mission is to offer an innovative, experiential, and compelling religious educational program for children to learn about Judaism and develop their own sense of Jewish identity.
