About the Role

The Development Officer is a results-oriented, front-line fundraiser with a portfolio of 100+ Intermediate Giving donors. This role is responsible to plan, design, implement, evaluate, and optimize all components of the intermediate giving program, with the objective of cultivating, soliciting, and upgrading a broad and diverse donor base. The successful candidate will endeavor to grow the overall portfolio, while enhancing the donor experience for individuals giving $1,000 – $9,999 per year across mail, email, phone, and other communication channels.

Reporting: Chief Advancement Officer

Key Accountabilities

  • Grow Intermediate Giving Program by 30% over the next two years
  • Directly manage a portfolio of well defined, loyal and dedicated intermediate giving donors with the general capacity to make gifts of $1,000 – $9,999 (although not exclusively within this range) with a focus on building sustainable relationships
  • Manage these prospects through the cycle of identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
  • From data analytics provided, ensure active pipeline of prospects by working closely with other members of the Advancement team to identify further giving opportunities
  • Develop a comprehensive donor stewardship plan for the long-term growth of monthly and yearly donors through conversion and lead generation
  • Increase overall revenue, donor participation and retention for giving program
  • Implement strategies to mine the database for future giving opportunities, developing individualized strategies to engage donors for the various priority fundraising programs
  • Collaborate with the team to develop content, gather impact stories and reports, and other items where needed
  • Work to increase the major gift portfolio via excellent identification and cultivation of Intermediate donors.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and writing skills
  • Knowledge of financial processes related to personal and corporate donations
  • Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation (or working towards achieving) considered an asse

Our candidate will possess

  • University Degree or Diploma in a related field is preferred but not necessary
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with a prospect portfolio with a proven record of obtaining gifts and meeting established targets
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with fundraising databases and research skills
  • Demonstrated initiative, diplomacy, sensitivity to confidential information, and sound judgment
  • Proven ability to work in a collaborative, team environment as well as independently
