Schechter Boston is looking for a dynamic and engaging educator to teach Jewish Studies for the 2023-2024 academic year. The specific grade level of the position will be determined based on need later this spring. 

Job Description:

  • Design, plan and implement text-focused Jewish Studies lessons that motivate students and create active, interpretive learning experiences.
  • Prepare and implement differentiated instruction, activities and assessments that meet the needs of every student. 
  • Build relationships with all students, so they are actively engaged in the classroom activities
  • Create and maintain a safe, well-structured physical environment that is conducive to student learning.
  • Participate in ongoing cycles of reflection, both independently and in collaboration with colleagues.

Education and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, with advanced study in Jewish Studies preferred
  • Ability to study classical Jewish texts (Tanakh, Talmud) in their original languages
  • Minimum of two years experience teaching students, preferably in a middle school setting.
  • Exemplary teaching skills.
