DC Musical Shabbat welcomes young families and friends of all ages to celebrate Shabbat together in song. On two Saturdays each month, DC Musical Shabbat gathers to sing, jam, play, and weave a rich Jewish experience for adults and kids alike. A team of 4-8 talented musicians sits at the heart of our Shabbat circles, with another 40+ community members seated facing each other in concentric circles. On two Saturday afternoons each month, we come together for Shabbat afternoon/evening Seudah Shlishit, Havdalah or holiday gatherings. Weather-permitting, we meet outside often adjacent to a playground so children (and parents) can easily move between singing and playing. We begin with songs for our youngest and then shift into “heart-opening” melodies and extended musical jams. We aim to provide our children with a fun and dynamic Shabbat experience that grounds them in Jewish culture, values, and tradition while offering adults a space to connect and renew through heart-opening song.
DC Musical Shabbat is proudly presented with support from The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington.
