The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia is hiring for a Major Gifts Officer.  This is a wonderful opportunity to work for a large-city Federation, located in the heart of Center City Philadelphia.  

Position Summary:

The Major Gifts Officer will manage their own portfolio of major gift prospects and donors and be charged with identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospects and donors in the Greater Philadelphia Jewish community. The Major Gifts Officer will work closely with the Chief Development Officer and Financial Resource Development (FRD) professional team to match donors’ interests to community needs through a variety of vehicles to include annual giving, multi-year projects, donor advised funds, planned giving and other philanthropic vehicles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as relationship manager for a portfolio of approximately 125 key donors and prospects at the Major Gifts level. 
  • Develops a multi-year fundraising and stewardship strategy for assigned relationships.
  • Plays a visible and collaborative leadership role within the overall Development Department and for organization-wide projects and priorities.
  • Provides professional support and partnership to senior volunteer leadership of the organization in the identification, solicitation and steward efforts.
  • Actively engages in regular donor/prospect communication, cultivation and direct solicitation with specific metrics and fundraising goals.
  • Identify opportunities to engage volunteers, senior leadership and the President and CEO in strategic cultivation and solicitation efforts.

Qualifications and Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Successful fundraising experience including direct solicitation of five and six figure gifts.
  • Experience in a multi-faceted fundraising environment (annual, legacy, and community foundation services/donor advised funds) desired.
  • Exceptional donor-relations skills: proven ability in creating strategies to cultivate prospects and channel donor engagement.
  • Strong knowledge of philanthropic planning vehicles a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and meet objectives and performance standards.
  • Knowledge of and appreciation for the Jewish community, its customs and practices.
  • Proven track record of success with fundraising systems and prospect identification.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, and various electronic communication tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a highly motivated goal-oriented team environment.
  • Knowledge of Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge, CRM or similar fundraising program, preferred
  • Evening/weekend work and valid driver's license required.
  • National and international travel may be required. Must have a valid passport
  • Access to a car.
