Position Summary

The Manager of Family and Educator Outreach is a dynamic position responsible for building relationships with families and educators to increase Jewish engagement and help fight antisemitism through building vibrant programs, creating educational opportunities, and responding to incidents.

 

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Facilitating PJ Library
    1. Develop relationships with young families.
    2. Create programs, at least once a month, to engage families.
    3. Recruit new families and grow the program through every age group.
    4. Encouraging young families to be involved in the greater Jewish community, join synagogues, etc.
    5. Create community, encourage Jewish practice in young families.
    6. Partner with other synagogues and organizations in the Jewish community.
    7. Develop and implement fundraising strategies to help support the program.
    8. Meet reporting requirements of PJ.
    9. Send monthly newsletters.
    10. Engage a committee of parents.
    11. Utilize social media and other formats to help publicize the program.
  2. Share Jewish holiday calendars and other resources with school administrators, preschool-12th
  3. Develop and implement Jewish education programs in schools-including training on antisemitism, holidays, Jewish American Heritage Month with audiences to include teachers, parents, and administrators.
  4. Continue relationship with San Antonio Public Library, work to expand to other entities and programs.
  5. Create programs to share Hanukkah and Jewish American Heritage Month for parents, librarians, or teachers to share with specific books and curriculum/training guide.
  6. Open dialogue for opportunities to educate teachers and administrators at preschools and elementary about Judaism and antisemitism.
  7. Assist JCRC Director to advocate for legislation that identifies and works to solve problems of antisemitism and discrimination in k-12 schools.
  8. Assist JCRC Director in responding to antisemitic incidents in schools including follow-up with parents and school personnel.
  9. Assist JCRC Director and JFSA staff in other issues as needed.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Candidates with teaching or school librarian experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Applicants should be excellent in presentations, outreach, relationship building.
  • Applicant should be knowledgeable about subject matter of Judaism, Israel, and Antisemitism.
  • Preferred applicants would have established connections with area schools and parents.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate diverse groups in a non-partisan fashion.
  • Passion for the Jewish people, Israel, and the Jewish community.
  • Strategic thinking-develop long-term goals.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 2 years’ experience preferred.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
