Wilshire Boulevard Temple is seeking the next Site Director of the Resnick Family Early Childhood Center, to begin in the summer of 2025. The RFECC is located in the Brentwood neighborhood and serves approximately 140 preschool-age children (2 to 5 year-olds). It also offers a vibrant Parenting Center for infants and toddlers and their caregivers. The Resnick Family ECC is one of the three early childhood centers of Wilshire Boulevard Temple.



Position Overview

 

The Site Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Resnick Family ECC. The Site Director will oversee the implementation, operation, supervision, and evaluation of the Center within the Wilshire Boulevard Temple curriculum guidelines. The Site Director supervises teachers and specialists, ensures the children's health and safety, and administers the program according to the State of California Department of Social Services and Wilshire Boulevard Temple’s policies and directives. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures the health and safety of the children and administers the program according to the State of California Department of Social Services and Wilshire Boulevard Temple’s policies and directives.
  • Supervise, observe, evaluate, and document each teacher's performance and conduct written and/or oral assessments. 
  • Recruit, hire, and retain qualified faculty and staff 
  • Supervise the creation of the curriculum and its implementation, including Jewish holidays and traditions, and the State of Israel
  • In partnership with the Head of School, provide opportunities for professional development for faculty, including but not limited to Jewish content and general education and pedagogy 
  • Maintain a strong Jewish atmosphere within the overall school and individual classroom settings.  
  • Document in writing all performance reviews, counseling sessions, and disciplinary actions.  
  • Mentor each teacher's professional growth and development.
  • Foster an environment that promotes collaboration amongst staff.  
  • Implement a program for evaluating the children's social, developmental, and academic progress. 
  • Maintains strong communication between school and parents and supervise teacher/parent communication as needed.
  • Assist in the editing of school newsletters, writing updates from the school, and attending parent-teacher conferences as assigned by the Head of School.
  • Work with Parent Association committees to implement programming for the school in collaboration with the Head of School
  • Keep the Head of School informed of all concerns and events both in the classrooms and with the individual families.
  • Any additional responsibilities appropriate for a professional in this capacity and as assigned by the Head of School



Professional Conduct

  • Comply with all applicable local, federal, and state laws. Must pass a background check per the state of California Department of Social Services.
  • Support and comply with organization policies, procedures, and regulations, and uphold the values of Wilshire Boulevard Temple.
  • Maintain excellent and reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Establish relationships with families and staff on a professional basis. 
  • Work towards the NAEYC Accreditation

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Have at least a baccalaureate degree AND at least 9 credit hours of specialized college level course work in administration, leadership, or staff relations AND at least 24 credit hours of specialized college-level coursework in early childhood education, child development, or early childhood special education that addresses child development and learning from birth through kindergarten. Courses must include general areas of child growth and development; child, family, and community, or child and family; and program/curriculum. 
  • 5+ years teaching experience in an early childhood classroom.
  • Completed 16 hours of health and safety training including courses in: CPR, First Aid, Preventative Health & Safety, and Nutrition.

  • Physical demands: Visual acuity to review written materials is required for this job. Additionally, this position requires meeting the public and the organization in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Work environment: Work will be performed in an office, education, and religious environment, catering/event spaces, kitchens, and in communities served. The physical arrangement of the office may require the position to work in an open environment within close proximity to other colleagues. Workspace must be organized and reflect efficiency. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

 

12-month exempt position, with occasional evening events

Salary range: $75,000 to $95,000, commensurate with experience
