Passion. Purpose. Impact.  Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP), one of Boston's oldest and most respected philanthropic organizations, has an exciting opportunity for a new Executive Assistant to the CEO.

Reporting directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Executive Assistant (EA) is a critical partner for the CEO, serving as the face of the Office and primary point of contact with all stakeholders, helping to ensure that the CEO is as effective a leader as possible.

The EA regularly handles complex assignments while maintaining a high level of professionalism, communication, and confidentiality in interactions with the Executive Team (ET), the Board of Directors, staff, outside agencies, volunteer leadership, and major donors, requiring discretion, independent judgment, tact, and diplomacy. The ideal individual will have excellent judgment; be a proactive advocate for the CEO and the organization; possess strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills; and have the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The EA will have the ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion. The EA will also coordinate with the Executive Support and Operations Manager on matters relating to the operating needs of the ET. The EA will have the ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes and shifting priorities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides professional administrative support to the CEO including heavy calendar management, extensive material development, and follow-up for internal and external meetings
  • Ensures CEO is thoroughly briefed and prepared for all meetings, events, etc., proactively “quarterbacking” and staying ahead of the CEO’s calendar. Collaborates with colleagues within and outside of CJP in order to provide relevant and timely information to the CEO.
  • Proactively seeks out ways to help CEO be more effective and efficient with time, to meet the needs of various stakeholders, and to move forward with his agenda. Collaborates with the Executive Support and Operations Manager on matters that relate to ET operations.

Education:  B.S./B.A. degree or equivalent business experience
