The National Jewish Advocacy Center (NJAC) is a rapidly growing nonprofit organization founded in 2020 to combat Antisemitism through innovative legal strategies. We lead strategic impact litigation, coordinate national efforts, and train the next generation of legal advocates to protect Jewish civil rights. In response to increased demand, we are scaling our operations to support a robust and sustainable growth model.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer to support our mission and elevate our operations for the next phase of growth and impact. This remote, US-based position will evolve over time to anticipate and respond to the changing operational needs of the organization. As of this writing, the Chief Operating Officer will manage our operations, development/fundraising, and marketing functions in partnership with our CEO and chief of staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations
- Manage all employees and volunteers.
- Liaise with board members, prepare for and run board meetings, and manage all board-related activities in coordination with the CEO.
- Serve as a point of contact for outside vendors and manage vendor relationships.
- Support billing, accounts payable, and audit preparation in collaboration with the finance manager.
- Handle inbound communications including offers of volunteer assistance, requests for legal assistance, media inquiries, and employment requests.
- Track and report on organizational performance and operational metrics using case management software.
- Prepare grant reports, compliance documentation, and related items.
- Coordinate logistics for meetings, events, and team communications.
Development and Fundraising
- Work with the CEO and board to set fundraising goals and report on progress.
- Manage and grow relationships with donors and institutional funders.
- Research, write, and submit compelling proposals, reports, and donor communications.
- Design and execute donor retention strategies, including acknowledgments and impact updates.
- Develop donor-facing materials including brochures, presentations, case studies, and reports.
- Maintain a fundraising calendar and ensure timely submission of all grants and reports.
- Manage a donor database, ensuring accurate and complete data.
Marketing
- Work with the CEO and board to devise a marketing strategy in order to increase the name recognition and reach of the organization within the Jewish community and with our allies.
- Create email campaigns and other digital communications.
- Manage our social media presence, ensuring alignment with organizational tone and values.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- You have demonstrated success in managing relationships with donors.
- You are comfortable in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
- You served in a leadership position in a nonprofit organization or a relevant component of one.
- You have experience in fundraising and marketing.
- You have a passion for our mission.
