Key Responsibilities
As the Director of Jewish Living and Learning, you will:
Visionary Leadership
- Shape and oversee Hebrew and Jewish Studies curricula with excellence and innovation.
- Inspire faculty, students, and families to embrace Jewish values and traditions.
Classroom Instruction
- Teach select Jewish Studies classes in the lower and/or middle school to actively engage with students and model best practices in teaching.
Program Oversight
- Lead t’filah, Kabbalat Shabbat, and holiday celebrations, creating inclusive and engaging experiences.
- Organize immersive learning opportunities, including the annual eighth-grade Israel trip.
Faculty Development
- Mentor, coach, and evaluate Jewish Studies and Hebrew faculty to ensure professional growth and impactful teaching.
- Facilitate ongoing professional development and collaborative faculty meetings.
Community Engagement
- Serve as a liaison to clergy and Jewish organizations, building meaningful partnerships.
- Foster relationships with families through educational programming and lifecycle events.
Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with the head of school and senior leadership on long-term goals and initiatives.
- Manage departmental budgets and align operations with school priorities.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with:
- A master’s degree or higher in Jewish studies, education, or a related field; rabbinic ordination preferred.
- Fluency in Hebrew and mastery of Jewish texts, rituals, and liturgy.
- At least 5 years of teaching experience and 3+ years of leadership in a Jewish educational setting.
- Proven ability to innovate in curriculum development and foster a collaborative school culture.
- A passion for building a connection to Israel and integrating Jewish values with social and environmental justice.
