Role Overview

Make your mark on Jewish student life by joining Rutgers University Hillel as its next Annual Campaign Manager.  You will be responsible for contributing to the management, execution and achievement of Rutgers Hillel’s fundraising initiatives toward a $1.9M+ annual campaign goal.  You’ll power Hillel by supporting efforts to connect people, vital funds and resources to our mission. Rutgers University is home to among the largest Jewish undergraduate populations in North America, with 6,400 Jewish undergraduates. Working with a team of XX dynamic professionals and thousands of Jewish students in the heart of Rutgers’ New Brunswick campus, the Annual Campaign Manager will drive lasting impact on the future of Jewish life in New Jersey and beyond. 

To do this, the Annual Campaign Manager will execute the annual campaign development plan for Rutgers Hillel under the leadership of the Interim Executive Director. You will get to interact with our incredible donor base of supportive, talented alumni and friends, deepening their engagement and sharing how their investments have made an impact. You’ll stimulate all facets of outreach and stakeholder management for the team as the point person for major gifts, direct marketing, and grant management.

What You’ll Do

  • Work in partnership with the Executive Director and team members to prepare and execute annual campaign fundraising components 

  • Plan logistics for major gift asks made by the Executive Director and by lay leaders

  • Make solicitations for gifts under $5,000 by phone and in-person

  • Cultivate, manage, and track the organization’s prospect list

  • Work closely with the Executive Director on parent and alumni engagement and solicitations

  • Generate new prospects—-mining the Rutgers Hillel database of prior donors, and a wide-range of additional sources for new prospects 

  • Execute an organized stewardship plan for new and existing donors including gift acknowledgement, thank you notes, opportunities to engage with Hillel and regular calls and emails

  • Support the annual gala planning, solicitation and event execution

  • Work with the Rutgers University Foundation to develop relationships and explore potential partnerships

On a day to day basis you will

  • Conduct campaigns via email, direct mail, outbound phone calls, and student phone-a-thons to the organization’s existing donors, past donors, and prospects

  • Track and manage grant proposals and grants

  • Report timely and accurate information about campaign progress to the Executive Director and the Board

  • Plan, schedule, and organize in-person and phone fundraising meetings for the Executive Director 

  • Plan, schedule, and organize email and phone solicitations and campaigns

  • Manage Rutgers Hillel’s fundraising lists and data

  • Work closely with Board members, especially chairs of Fundraising Committee members, to engage them in fundraising efforts, utilize relationships, and develop leadership gifts

  • Serve as the liaison between Hillel and select stakeholders, including local Federations, Foundations, Hillel International advancement team, and Rutgers Hillel staff

  • Plan and organize logistics for Board meetings and development related special events 

  • Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and reports for individual donors, foundations, Jewish Federations, Hillel International, and other funders

  • Track pledges and gifts to ensure monies are received, reported, and deposited in a timely manner in collaboration with the Operations Manager

  • Ensure grant monies are collected when promised

What You’ve Accomplished

  • At least 3 years of experience in professional fundraising, higher education, nonprofit management, project management or professional services

  • Bachelor’s degree required

What You’ll Receive

  • Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $72,000-$78,000
