About DOROT’s Jewish Summer Teen Internship Program: DOROT’s Jewish Summer Teen Internship Program is a nationally recognized four-week summer internship program for entering 10th – 12th graders from diverse Jewish backgrounds and experiences.  The program, which operates in Manhattan, Riverdale and Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, offers a new way for high school students to explore a range of Jewish values and communal responsibility while gaining meaningful leadership experience through intergenerational community service.


Position Summary: We seek an experiential Jewish educator who is a creative thinker and experienced group facilitator.  Experience working with American born high school students from the Russian Jewish community is critical; a passion and skill for developing teen leadership; an understanding of and ability to create meaningful intergenerational connections and the knowledge needed to put experiential Jewish learning and values at the center of the teen’s internship experience.  


DOROT seeks a bilingual (native Russian speaker & English) Jewish experiential teen educator, who is passionate and creative, to join our dynamic team to facilitate our program located at the Shorefront Y in Brooklyn in summer 2022. Shorefront Y will run the program onsite subject to guidelines from the New York Department of Health and CDC Guidelines, two days a week will be remote.   The educator facilitates intergenerational programming in Russian for the older adult population who are exclusively Russian-speaking.

Full-time summer work will initiate in our Manhattan-based Jewish Summer Teen Internship program during the first summer session (6/27 – 7/21) and will transition to our Brighton Beach site for the second summer session (7/25-8/18).


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support DOROT’s Jewish Summer Teen Internship Program in Manhattan in collaboration with DOROT staff then transition to serve as Lead Facilitator for the Brighton Beach program.
  • Coordinate with Shorefront Y staff to manage program logistics and administrative needs.
  • Utilize DOROT’s existing curriculum and tool kit to plan and facilitate all program components including orientation, Jewish service-learning, teen leadership, and reflection sessions.
  • Connect teens’ exploration of Jewish values to their service and intergenerational experiences in the program.
  • Serve as coach and mentor to teen interns individually.
  • Ensure the development of a strong collective teen cohort.
  • Train and support interns to plan and facilitate intergenerational programs.
  • Serve as liaison between parents, teen interns, and the Shorefront Y.
  • Supervise two summer college interns.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.



  • BA or similar experiences. Graduate students welcome.
  • Bilingual in Russian and English
  • Experience in experiential teen programming
  • A passion for working with high school students
  • Exemplary and engaging group facilitation and mentoring skills
  • Motivated self-starter who works collaboratively with team members
  • Comfort and ease working with the elderly
  • Proven ability to embrace the diversity of Jewish connections, including all backgrounds and expressions that represent multiple narratives
  • Excellent communication skills both spoken and written
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office 2010
