About the Synagogue

About the Religious School

Beth El’s Religious School has around 75 learners in K-7th grades. Our Religious School is a warm, inclusive community that fosters lifelong Jewish learning and living. Israeli culture, art, prayer, and Hebrew specialists enhance the curriculum, bringing to life our Jewish values and traditions. It’s a community where every learner feels at home, and where our children want to be.

School Details:

Our religious school meets on Thursdays from 4-6 pm and on Sunday mornings from 9-11 am or 9-12 pm, depending on the grade. Staff may teach on both Sundays and Thursdays, or on only one day. They are expected to arrive 15 minutes before class starts, and stay through the end of dismissal (usually takes around 15 minutes). We also have faculty meetings occasionally after school.

In addition to classroom time, we also have a robust schedule of art, music, Shinshinim (Israeli youth on their gap years), and tefillah.

Available Positions:

We have positions available for both our elementary and middle school grades on Thursday afternoons and on Sunday mornings. Educators can work on either or both days. Grade placement and scheduling will be discussed individually with candidates.

All positions require basic Hebrew decoding skills and familiarity with Conservative liturgy, as well as general familiarity with basic Torah stories, Jewish holidays, Jewish values, and Israel. Specific areas of Jewish knowledge can be discussed individually.

Educators will write lesson plans for each class session with the support and guidance of the Director of Youth & Family Engagement, based on our curriculum, with plenty of room for your own interests, ideas and passions!

Compensation:

Compensation ranges from $5000-$10,000, depending on number of days per week, experience, higher education, and years working at Beth El’s Religious School. Educators earn 1 day of PTO per day they work per week (i.e. someone who teaches only Thursdays has one day of PTO).

How to Apply:

Please send your resume and an introductory email to Alyssa Berman, Director of Youth and Family Engagement at [email protected]. Feel free to also reach out with any questions.
