Join B'nai Shalom of Olney, a dynamic and inclusive Conservative Jewish congregation located in Montgomery County, Maryland, as we seek a passionate and innovative Education/Youth Director for our K-10 program, Jewish Learning at B'nai Shalom (J-LAB). Our congregation is home to 270 families and 85 students engaged in J-LAB, reflecting our commitment to vibrant and meaningful Jewish education and youth engagement. This multifaceted role merges the positions of Education Director and Youth Director, providing a unique opportunity to significantly impact our community's youth. The position is scheduled to start on July 1, 2024. 

We invite candidates who are deeply committed to Jewish education and youth engagement, embodying creativity, enthusiasm, leadership, and excellent relational skills. The successful applicant will play a crucial role in our community, actively participating in synagogue and broader community events to build relationships and drive engagement. 

Key Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in education, educational administration, Jewish education and/or Jewish studies preferred or at least a minimum of five years of relevant work experience in a religious school setting. 
  • Strong Jewish identity and expertise in Hebrew and Tefillah. 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities. 
  • Commitment to the ethos of J-LAB: An experiential program that uses hands on learning to establish a strong foundation of Jewish traditions and teachings. 
  • Dedication to developing an enriching and comprehensive youth program with diverse offerings. 
  • Experience in creating, delivering, and overseeing engaging and meaningful Judaic curricula. 
  • At least 3 years of managerial or supervisory experience 
  • Experience in educational administration, including budgeting and human resource management. 
  • Experience with youth and synagogue programming 
  • Knowledge of Judaica and Hebrew with excellent davening skills and a passion for promoting Jewish Values, tradition, and culture 

  

Responsibilities include: 

- Enhancing our Jewish educational curriculum and advancing our Hebrew enrichment initiatives within J-LAB. 

- Setting educational goals and outlining a strategic curriculum development plan. 

- Managing teacher recruitment, training, and assessment. 

- Boosting parent involvement through effective communication and transparent policy frameworks. 

- Leading compelling youth and family programs, including Shabbat and holiday events, and ensuring enriching High Holiday youth experiences. 

  • Collaborating closely with our professional staff and community leaders to foster a vibrant Jewish learning environment.   

 

Compensation commensurate with experience.
