The Kitchen Manager has primary responsibility for the operation of Tikvat Israel’s kitchen, serves as our in-house caterer, and is the primary point of contact for outside caterers and food service providers.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee use of kitchen, food preparation, service, and cleanup for all events.
  • Ensure TI’s Kashrut Policy is followed any time the kitchen is used.
  • Ensure all food, storage, and prep areas are clean, organized, and properly labeled.
  • Maintain inventory of kitchen supplies, food, and equipment for use throughout the facility.
  • Manage volunteers and staff for food service at TI events.
  • Support volunteers in planning menus, budgets, and staffing needs for events.
  • Maintain accurate, timely accounts of kitchen expenditures.
  • Create sample menus and pricing for sponsored events and rentals.
  • Coordinate with outside caterers.
  • Liaison with administrative staff for event set-up, registration, publicity, etc.
  • Assist in promoting opportunities for sponsored events.
  • Attend staff meetings, kitchen committee meetings, and other planning meetings as needed.

Required Certifications and Skills:

  • Must have SafeServe certification.
  • Knowledge of Kashrut and willingness to adhere to TI Kashrut Policy.
  • At least 2 years experience in an institutional kosher kitchen.
  • Friendly and people-oriented.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule.
  • Familiar and able to use standard office software (Excel, Word, etc.) and online tools.
  • Comfortable with digital communications methods and devices.
Salary20.00 - 25.00 Hour
