Position Summary:
The YALA Department oversees all Young Adult programming, communications, and strategy. The department manages all aspects of the planning and preparation of YALA events and initiatives delivered throughout the year across North America.
The YALA Coordinator is a key role focused on engaging Movement young adults, ages 20s and 30s, located in the Northeast corridor. The Coordinator will develop community-wide programs, events, and opportunities, including collaborating and partnering with area synagogues and Jewish organizations. The YALA Coordinator is accountable for creating connections with and between Jewish young adults through new engagement initiatives, partnerships, and events.
Key Responsibilities:
Programming and Collaboration
- Develop community-wide events and partnerships with Jewish organizations within the Northeast corridor, including NY, NJ, PA, DC and potentially Boston.
- Hold at least 2 to 4 events in each community (NY, NJ, PA, DC, and potentially Boston) with an emphasis on building on existing area events and creating new opportunities in the New York City area.
- Help increase young adult engagement participation levels within targeted communities.
- Build relationships and partnership opportunities with local professionals, Conservative congregations and other Jewish organizations to deliver meaningful and impactful YALA events.
- Form and promote an active YALA committee in each community being served.
- Help promote International YALA programs and initiatives.
- Assist with social media outreach, including consistent and creative social media posting on Instagram and LinkedIn.
- Participate in communal opportunities that engage local young adults wherever possible.
- Participate and contribute as a member of the YALA staff, which includes attending International YALA Shabbatonim, USCJ virtual and in-person all-staff meetings, and regular supervisory meetings with the Director of YALA.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area of study preferred
- Must be at least age 21 years of age
- 2+ years of relevant work or volunteer experience preferred
- Passion for YALA’s mission and commitment to providing meaningful experiences for Jewish young adults
- Strong understanding and enthusiasm for engaging Jewish young adults in an impactful manner
- Knowledge of Jewish traditions; demonstrated commitment to Conservative Judaism living and/or learning
- Excellent relationship-building and outreach skills
- Excellent communication (verbal, written and interpersonal) and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate as part of a team
- Ability to engage young adults on social media platforms
- Ability to learn online systems and programs quickly; and proficiency with video conferencing technologies
Location:
Remote, New York City area preferred but other Northeast areas considered
Requires travel for programs, conventions, and other events as needed
Salary:
$50,000.00 – $55,000.00
Schedule:
Full-time hours, Monday through Friday; requires attendance at evening meetings and weekend programs and conventions as needed
