Description

The Manhattan Jewish Experience (MJE) seeks a full time Outreach Professional to inspire and help young Jewish professionals grow spiritually and religiously. The ideal candidate should have experience in Orthodox Jewish outreach.

This person should be able to teach Torah classes on a variety of subjects, speak publicly, be a positive role model and be able to inspire, mentor and cultivate relationships with participants who attend programs to develop their connection to the community and to Torah and religious practice.

Specific Responsibilities
Lead and teach - Shabbat, Holidays, and Weekday classes
Act as Synagogue Gabbai/Synagogue Spiritual Director and Coordinator (train, schedule, and assure quality of  chazzanim and baalei kriyah)
Lead Minyan (Learners Service) give Sermon
Assist with weekly Shabbat and Holiday hospitality (secure guests and homes)
Spiritual Mentorship

Shabbat
Weekly attendance at Shabbat (3/4 weekends a month)
Weekly home hospitality (6ppl) (3/4 weekends a month)
1 Friday night Site dinner/month
3 Friday night Onegs/year
3 Shalosh Seudot /year
Oversee Shabbat Scholars-in-residence program (4/year)
Teach afternoon Parsha class 20x per year

Holidays
Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur - lead, speak and teach (sermon and breakout sessions) 
Act as Synagogue Spiritual Director (train, schedule, and assure quality of balei tokeah and chazzanim)
Sukkot - attendance, selling ritual items for Holiday lulav/etrog, lead and run the services and provide hospitality for community
Simchat Torah - lead, teach, ruach
Chanukah - run Chagigah
Purim - run Chagigah, Megillah and Seudah
Pesach - oversee the sale of chametz, recruit and Host Seder (either night)
Shavuot - run all-night learning programming
Tisha b’Av - run Eicha/Kinot/Slideshow program

Teaching
Shabbat morning sermon 1x month
Shabbat morning class 2x month
Shabbat afternoon (monthly)
Teach weekly Wednesday nights
Weekly meeting/learning with participants and mentor (5)
Co lead Israel trip
Help run Wednesday night learning program

Recruit - Shabbat (6), Retreats (5), Israel Trip (5), Annual Dinner (10)

*Couples can apply if both spouses can act as Educators for additional compensation.
