The Fundraising Events Manager will work closely with the Director of Fundraising Events & Systems on managing all aspects of JDC’s fundraising and donor engagement events. This role will work with fundraising staff and other departments across the organization to develop and execute events at the highest level – virtually, hybrid and in-person – that engage donors and prospects in the work of JDC, representing the organization’s mission, vision and brand with the highest integrity and respect for those we serve overseas. While this position is part of a larger fundraising team, it does not have a fundraising performance goal.

What will you do as a Fundraising Events Manager?

Strategy/Ideation

  • Work with fundraisers and other Resource Development (RD) staff to develop event goals and metrics
  • Create and manage event timelines and budgets
  • Regularly interact, manage communications, and plan meetings with event leadership
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications Department from development of concept through execution for web and print marketing, communications, and video production.
  • Continually research vendors and develop processes to assist with event project management and to create engaging virtual and hybrid events
  • Identify trends in event technology and collaborate with Director of Fundraising Events & Systems to employ in regular use
  • Provide pre and post event fundraising, metrics, and attendance reports
  • Familiarize yourself with JDC’s global mission and work

Content

  • Create event flow and key storytelling points by identifying speakers and content of interest
  • Prepare speakers (lay leaders, board members) for presentations including writing talking points
  • Design and test RSVP and registration sites, and manage pre and post event outreach
  • Manage Events calendar to ensure consistent event experience for donors and stakeholders

Logistics

  • Identify and implement best practices for both virtual and hybrid events
  • Initiate and manage RFP process for vendors in line with all JDC procurement policies
  • Work with JDC Legal and Finance departments on vendor contracts and payments
  • Coordinate travel and contracting for speakers as needed
  • Manage all pre, post and onsite materials and décor for events
  • Creation and management of invitation and registration lists
  • Track dollars raised and event attendance in Raiser’s Edge and other fundraising systems

 

What qualifications do you need to be our Fundraising Events Manager?

  • Intermediate-level experience with event management or significant experience with event assistance, ready to take the next step
  • Familiarity with nonprofit event philanthropy and the various roles of lay leaders, staff, and Board members
  • Excellent computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and high-level experience with Zoom (and other related technologies) and understanding of and ability to execute virtual and hybrid events
  • Familiarity with CRM fundraising systems – Raiser’s Edge a plus
  • Strong organizational project management, prioritization, and Detail-orientation skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, adaptability, and creativity
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work well efficiently and effectively on one’s own
  • Team-orientation and excellent relational skills, able to build strong internal (colleagues) and external (donors, vendors) relationships working with individuals at all levels to plan and execute programs together
  • Ability to work across departments to communicate needs
  • Ability to bend, reach, and lift of up to 20 lbs. occasionally, up to 10 lbs. regularly
  • Commitment and passion for the work of the JDC, global Jewish issues, and donor engagement, and the ability to effectively translate that to diverse audiences

 

Additional Details

  • Employment Type: Full-Time
  • Hours: 35 hours/week, 8:45 AM – 4:45PM; weekends and evenings occasionally required leading up to/during events
  • JDC is currently working in a hybrid environment – both in-person and from home.

  • Reports to: Director of Fundraising Events and Systems
  • Job Function/Department: Resource Development
  • Other: Ability to travel domestically as needed; estimated at 3-5 times/year when in-person events are fully ramped up, pandemic permitting.

 

What are the compensation and benefits for a Fundraising Events Manager?

This a full-time position paid semi-monthly at a salary of $65,000-$75,000 per year; in determining where a candidate falls in that range JDC considers several factors, including skills and experience, internal equity, and cost of living in location of work. This role is exempt per the FLSA.
