Temple Sholom is a warm and highly inclusive Reform congregation in the Lakeview neighborhood, right in the heart of Chicago. Founded in 1867, Temple Sholom is one of Chicago’s oldest and most pioneering synagogues, serving around 1100 families.

We have openings for Religious School classroom teachers, specialists, and permanent substitutes.
We have a limited number of positions available on both Sundays 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM and/or Wednesdays 5:00 PM - 6:15 PM.
We are looking for specialists to join our team.
Inclusion / Learning Specialist – supports students and teachers as we differentiate educational opportunities and help every student learn and feel successful at Religious School. This position also serves as a liaison to parents and works closely with the Director of Education. Must have experience working with children with special needs.
Song leader / Music / Art / Jewish Cooking / Israeli Dance – we have a rotation of fabulous experiential educators that help bring our program to life. We would love for you to join our team. We are looking for someone creative who can teach multiple grade levels and plan meaningful experiences in twenty-minute segments. (These positions can be weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly.)
Qualifications:
Possess a deep love for Judaism and a strong Jewish background
Open to creating a joyful, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment
Enthusiastic, reflective, and thoughtful educator
Experience teaching and creating lesson plans
Strong communication skills and professionalism
Knowledge of Hebrew (decoding, reading, tefillah) required for some positions
Ability to collaborate with other teachers and specialists
