Pressman Academy and Temple Beth Am are seeking our next Human Resources Manager.
The Human Resources Manager has the unique opportunity to support and shape the employee experience at both Pressman Academy and Temple Beth Am, an institution driven by Jewish values, collaborative spirit, and community care. This position plays a vital role in ensuring our organization continues to be exceptional places to work.
The HR Manager is responsible for overseeing payroll and benefits, maintaining compliance with applicable state and federal labor laws, managing HR systems and policies, and supporting employee relations and workplace culture. Just as importantly, the HR Manager helps foster a respectful, values-aligned, and relationship-centered work environment. This individual will report to the Finance Manager of Pressman Academy and collaborate with leaders across both institutions.
Who are we?
Temple Beth Am is a thriving synagogue of 900 members, which includes Pressman Academy, an Early Childhood and Day School (K-8) that serves 500+ students. Parents, children, congregants and employees often describe Pressman Academy and Temple Beth Am as a place that “feels like home.” We’re proud to be an institution where strong relationships, a shared commitment to Jewish tradition, and a creative love of innovation define our work. Our teams are thoughtful, mission-oriented, and deeply supportive of one another. We believe the work we do matters - and how we do it matters just as much. We are guided by Jewish values, a strong sense of purpose, and a culture that celebrates both professionalism and menschlichkeit (behaving with ethics and values). It’s why we are known as being a great place to work.
Who are you?
You’re an experienced and people-centered HR professional who brings both strong systems knowledge and a warm, collaborative approach. You know how to process payroll, track benefits, and update policies and you also know how to have thoughtful, trust-building conversations with employees and supervisors. You are calm under pressure, attentive to detail, and deeply committed to the wellbeing of your colleagues. You enjoy working in mission-driven environments, and you’re excited by the idea of contributing to a school and synagogue that are engaged in meaningful work. You value clarity, fairness, and professionalism, and you’re someone people feel comfortable turning to with questions or concerns. You’re organized, discreet, proactive and looking for a workplace where you can grow and make a difference.
