Part Time (20 hours/week): $30,000 - $40,000 a year

 

Voices of Hope (VOH) is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the part time position of Director of Development. The Director of Development will lead a comprehensive campaign to expand the fundraising efforts of VOH statewide, highlighting the organization’s impact and vision for the future.

The Director of Development reports to the Executive Director.

About VOH:

VOH, Inc is a 501(c)(3) corporation whose mission is promote a culture of courage to stand up against hatred through Holocaust and genocide education and remembrance.  VOH plans programming to educate students and adults about the Holocaust and other genocides, to ensure that future generations learn the dangers of hate and prejudice and we never forget the past.

About the Director of Development position:
The Director of Development is responsible for all fundraising activities. The major responsibilities include planning, organizing, and executing a successful comprehensive fundraising campaign, as well as working with the Executive Director, staff, and Board of Directors to create a long-term fundraising strategy and plan for sustaining VOH. We are looking for an individual with a passion for the mission, a strong background in fundraising and development in the nonprofit sector, and the flexibility and interest in working with a growing organization.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Increase non-event general operational giving to $300,000 per year over a three year period from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
  • Implement a comprehensive program of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of all prospective and current donors.
  • Support and mentor Board members involved in the development process.
  • Accompany Board members on solicitations.
  • Manage grant portfolio, including grant prospecting.
  • Serve as an externally focused and visible ambassador for VOH and be able to articulate its mission.
  • Grow VOH’s endowment through identifying and securing donations to endowment funds and formalizing future endowment commitments.
  • Organize fundraising events, including annual gala (Evening of Hope)
  • Develop a suite of regular development communications that may include newsletters, flyers, event speeches, invitations, etc.
  • Maintain donor database.
  • Manage fundraising committee.
  • Attend Board meetings and committee meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Board Treasurer to develop and produce regular analytic reports for the Board that clearly communicate fundraising activities.

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum three to five years of non-profit development work, including major gifts/solicitation and event planning experience.
  • Passion for the mission of VOH.
  • Considerable experience in major gift fundraising, and a demonstrable track record of raising five-figure and above gifts.
  • Demonstrated experience expanding and cultivating existing donor relationships over time.
  • Previous engagement and collaboration with Board members/lay leadership.
  • Applicant must be professional, detail-oriented and be able to work independently without close oversight, but also function as a team player who will take initiative and manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and writing skills.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products, Canva and prior experience with a non-profit donor database.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Salary, Benefits and Schedule:

  • Part-time, flexible hours.
  • Salary negotiable, based on experience.
  • On the job training, professional development opportunities and mentoring. 
  • Potential for advancement, based on performance and organizational growth. 
  • Two weeks paid vacation and holidays.
  • Ability to work from home and meet in our Farmington, CT office a few times a month.
  • Work may require evening and weekend hours.
