The Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, MD is seeking candidates to fill the position of Middle School Hebrew Teacher for the 2023-2024 academic year. Members of the Hebrew department work collaboratively in designing and delivering an outstanding Hebrew education to middle school students in a supportive, engaging and rich environment which values the whole child. They bring Hebrew language to life throughout the school and inspire students with an appreciation for and mastery of Hebrew as the language of the Jewish people.
Successful candidates will have at least three years of demonstrated success teaching Hebrew as a second language to middle school students, and will have familiarity and experience with teaching the proficiency model. The ideal candidate is passionate and charismatic, and uses a student-centered approach to teaching. They are experienced in effective methods of assessment of second language skills, and are familiar with recognized standards of language instruction, in particular with ACTFL standards. Candidates demonstrate a willingness to participate fully in the life of a vibrant school community, and have demonstrated success in working collaboratively as part of a team.
Pay is commensurate with education and experience, and is calculated according to a school-wide pay scale. This position is eligible for benefits.
