About the Position: 

NJY Camps is committed to providing greater support and resources to meet the growing social, emotional, and mental health needs of our community. Together with the Healthcare Foundation of NJ (HFNJ) we are bolstering our mental health efforts through the creation of a year-round Mental Health Coordinator position. This coordinator will be responsible for creating and leading initiatives surrounding mental health both during the summer, at camp, and throughout the year.    


  • Establishing of an agency-wide, systemic approach to meeting the mental health needs of our community  
  • Developing a curriculum for Mental Health training   
  • Training staff in areas of relevant mental health topics 
  • Participating in our mental health Community of Practice   
  • Supervising seasonal team of mental health professionals and camper care teams  
  • Engaging and supporting camper and staff families  
  • Leading a community outreach initiative centered on destigmatizing mental health needs  
  • Collaborating with camp staff on a case-by-case basis to help place campers and staff in the right programs/positions so that they can thrive at camp.  
  • Providing support in crisis situations  
  • Designing camper and staff evaluation forms   
  • Reviewing and updating camper intake process and procedures 


Required Experience: the ideal candidate has: 

  • An MSW or higher degree in a relevant field of study.  
  • A desire to make an impact on the lives of our campers and staff.  
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in the field  
  • A collaborative and team-focused mindset and work ethic.

  • Strong time-management capabilities and the ability to stay on top of multiple priorities 
  • A self-starter and go-getter with excellent initiative 
  • Comfortable working in an adaptive and ever-changing work environment

Salary and Benefits: 

  • $70-75K based on a full-time 40-hour work week during the off season and living on site at camp during the summer 
  • Full summer camp tuition included for any eligible camp-aged children (approximate value of $!0,000 per child)
