Interim Executive Director – Talmud Torah of Minneapolis

About the Role

Talmud Torah of Minneapolis is a historic and mission-driven Jewish supplementary school serving grades 2–8. As we prepare for a period of transition, we are seeking a 1-year Interim Executive Director to lead the school’s daily operations, manage staff and programs, and ensure smooth execution of our educational offerings in collaboration with our Board and synagogue partners.

This interim position is focused on executive management, staff leadership, and operational continuity. The Interim Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and serve as the primary administrative leader responsible for overseeing all non-curricular aspects of the school. Curriculum design will be other team members’ responsibilities. . While the Director will maintain relationships with key stakeholders, this is a limited year-long position.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Oversight

  • Supervise day-to-day school operations including scheduling, facilities, and safety.
  • Ensure smooth functioning of school systems including attendance, communications, and records.
  • Monitor and manage enrollment processes, transportation, and classroom logistics.
  • Plan & coordinate special school events

Staff Management

  • Supervise teaching and administrative staff, ensuring performance and alignment with school expectations.
  • Hire teachers & staff for 2025-26 school year
  • Handle staffing logistics, schedules, and support.
  • Oversee substitute coordinator and tutoring coordinator

Finance & Administration

  • Work with Finance Director and Board Treasurer to manage the budget, expenses, and reporting.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, purchasing, and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and legal/regulatory requirements.

Board & Synagogue Coordination

  • Provide regular updates to the Board of Directors; implement board policies and decisions.
  • Collaborate with synagogue education leaders on shared calendar needs and coordination of lifecycle events.
  • Attend scheduled meetings with partner synagogues and maintain regular communication.

Communications & Problem Solving

  • Serve as the point of contact for families on administrative and logistical matters.
  • Communicate clearly and promptly with staff and families.
  • Address operational issues and respond to emerging needs with efficiency and discretion.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in school or nonprofit administration.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with Jewish communal institutions and supplementary school environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Competency with digital tools including Google Workspace and school platforms (FACTS/RenWeb preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree required; experience in Jewish education or community roles a plus.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Full-time, 12-month interim role beginning Summer 2025.
  • Work hours include weekday afternoons/evenings and Sundays during the academic year.
  • Salary: $100,000–$120,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Includes benefits, paid holidays and professional support.
