Guest Rabbi or Cantor

Position Details:

• Lead High Holy Day services for our independent Jewish community including:
  • Rosh Hashanah: Erev and First Day service
  • Join our Second Day Rosh HaShanah hike & offer kavanot/intentions for Tashlikh
  • Shabbat Shuva service or gathering
  • Yom Kippur: Kol Nidre, Morning service including Yizkor, and Neilah/Havdalah
• Coordinate High Holy Day services with members of our Steering Committee

The Glacier Jewish Community in Whitefish, Montana is seeking a Rabbi, Cantor, Rabbinic or Cantorial Student or experienced Prayer Leader to lead our congregation during the High Holy Days of 2025. We provide:

• $7,500 honorarium
• Round-trip coach airfare
• Lodging in or around Whitefish
• Transportation to/from airport
• Vehicle for local transportation during your stay

About Us: The Glacier Jewish Community is a welcoming congregation in the beautiful mountain town of Whitefish, Montana. We seek a Rabbi, Cantor, Rabbinic or Cantorial student, or experienced Prayer Leader who can create meaningful High Holy Day experiences that blend tradition with relevance for our diverse community.  GJC is an independent, egalitarian congregation serving the Jewish community in northwest Montana’s beautiful Flathead Valley. We strive to create a kehillah kedoshah, or sacred community, that offers the opportunity to connect with other Jewish and Jewish-adjacent people, through spiritual, educational and social experiences.

Some of us grew up here, and many of us have followed our passion for the rugged beauty and open spaces of northwest Montana to live here. We eat, pray, hike, paddle, ski, sing, read and learn. Our gatherings are open to all who seek Jewish connection, and are designed to generate warmth, enthusiasm, and a sense of belonging. We are not affiliated with any particular denomination; however, we partner regularly with synagogues across Montana, the Montana Jewish Project and the Montana Association of Rabbis.
