Location: New York, NY preferred, Remote
Type: Full-time
Reports to: Executive Director

 

About CSA: The Council for a Secure America is a non-partisan, non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to promoting United States energy independence, its impact on United States foreign policy, the strategic relationship between the United States and Israel, and the Abraham Accords.

Job Description: CSA is looking for a strategic, entrepreneurial Director of Development to build and lead CSA’s fundraising efforts. This senior role will be responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive development program to support CSA’s growing domestic and international work. The Director will play a key role in expanding CSA’s donor base, growing institutional partnerships, and ensuring high-quality programming and events.

The ideal candidate will be a strong relationship-builder, experienced in major gifts, institutional fundraising, and grant-writing. This candidate will be ready to hit the ground running to lead and execute a high-impact fundraising portfolio from the ground up with strategic vision and enthusiasm.

Responsibilities:

Development, Fundraising, and Grant Writing

  • Lead comprehensive fundraising initiatives in coordination with the Executive Director
  • Develop and execute a multi-year development strategy for the organization
  • Identify and conduct research on prospective donors and fundraising opportunities
  • Manage donor relations through multiple channels (phone, emails, marketing campaigns, and materials)
  • Architect and lead major annual giving campaign
  • Develop, and manage grant research, proposals, and submissions to foundations and other grant making entities
  • Track multi-year commitments and coordinate donor renewal strategies
  • Work alongside the marketing team to develop, enhance, and expand annual reports and materials 

Donor Stewardship & Engagement

  • Expand and grow portfolio of major donors, foundations, corporate and individual board members, and donors
  • Focus on member recruitment and engagement from past event attendees
  • Coordinate donor recognition programs and sponsorship opportunities
  • Assist with board meeting preparation and board member coordination
  • Support relationship building initiatives with key stakeholders
  • Maintain detailed records of contributions, pledges, and donor interactions in CRMs
  • Introduce new donors to CSA who align with organization’s core values and mission
  • Orchestrate quarterly billing campaigns and coordinate payment collection from organizational supporters

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably international relations, non-profit management, or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in fundraising and development
  • Grant writing and institutional fundraising experience required
  • Strong background in event planning for both in-person and virtual formats
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship building skills.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Sales Force, Hubspot, MailChimp, Square Space, Canva, Quickbooks, and scheduling tools (e.g., Calendly, Zoom)
  • Experience with fundraising databases and CRMs
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in energy security, Middle Eastern politics, and international relations
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail

Additional Information:

  • This role requires regular evening and weekend work during events
  • Background in non profit NGOs, political fundraising, and/or international organizations strongly preferred 
  • Domestic travel several times per year as needed
  • Possible international travel once per year
  • Must be comfortable leading donor-facing responsibilities
  • A commitment to CSA's mission and values is essential
  • Experience in building a development and grants portfolio from the ground up
