Development Manager, Northwestern Hillel

 

Role Overview

 

Make your mark on Jewish student life by joining Northwestern Hillel as the Development Manager. Part development guru, part relationship maven, part data miner, the Development Manager will power Hillel by supporting efforts to connect people, vital funds, and resources to our mission. 

 The Development Manager is responsible for contributing to the management, implementation, and achievement of Hillel’s fundraising initiatives toward a nearly $2 million annual goal. Ideal candidates are professionals with 3+ years development experience or those new to the field of development who possess a strong desire to explore fundraising. This position is highly focused on prospect research, direct solicitation, mail and e-solicitation, and phone and text-based fundraising, largely from audiences composed of parents, young alumni, and community members.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with ED on annual campaign and ongoing comprehensive capital campaign 
  • Work with staff and the Board of Directors Development Committee to create a development plan to meet annual fundraising goals and track progress throughout the year
  • Identify, steward, and directly solicit a portfolio of donors and prospects who contribute between $18 - $5,000 annually
  • Support solicitation efforts for the Executive Director, Board members, and other key lay leaders
  • Coordinate donor meetings and events
  • Work with Finance and Operations Manager to assure timely gift acknowledgement, database management, and review of donor tracking system
  • Write grant applications and reports, and manage grant timelines
  • Supervise part-time Marketing and Communications Manager and oversee student interns in development and marketing

 

On a day-to-day basis you will:

  • Track and analyze fundraising data to build strategies that both increase donor numbers and revenue
  • Manage follow-up with donors and prospects as necessary
  • Monitor development expenses with Finance and Operations Manager
  • Maintain Little Green Light (LGL) donor database
  • Provide timely data to the Executive Director and Board leaders to ensure that development campaigns proceed efficiently. 
  • Communicate with parents of incoming students in advance of welcome events for recently-accepted students and their families 

 

What You’ve Accomplished:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of proven success as a development professional
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects
  • Proven success as a strong writer
  • Previous fundraising experience either professionally or as a volunteer
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Prior experience with Little Green Light is a plus

  • Understanding of current trends, ability to recommend and implement plans to increase donors, contributions, and identify new opportunities

 

What You’ll Receive:

  • Salary range of $60,000-$80,000
