Maayan Torah Day School of Portland Seeks Part-time or Full-time Morah or Rebbe
About Maayan
Founded more than a dozen years ago, Maayan Torah Day School is a proud affiliate of Torah U’Mesorah and accredited by Cognia. We serve 100 students from Early Childhood through Grade 8, though we’re accredited through Grade 12 and are currently working to create a high school.
Maayan's unique educational model combines student engagement, excellent instruction, academic rigor, and a nurturing environment. We believe a warm atmosphere is an ideal place for young minds to flourish. We work relentlessly to cultivate student-centered classrooms and incorporate varied and targeted approaches to instruction. Our teachers are expected to incorporate individual learner profiles, interests and skills when instructional planning, and regularly differentiate instruction to meet the different learning needs of their students.
We provide a Jewish-values rich environment that inspires students to love being Jewish and seeks to instill the love of Torah as a wellspring (Maayan) in their lives. Maayan educators and staff value each student as a unique being with inherent greatness because they were created in the Divine image. Our teachers and staff take a strengths-based approach to chinuch, working to draw out the unique strengths in each student as they learn to develop a love of HKBH, become Shomrei Torah u’mitzvot and role models of Middot Tovot.
About Portland, Oregon
Portland is home to more than 57,000 Jews along with a growing, devoted Orthodox community that includes shuls, schools, 2 mikvahs, a Kollel, NCSY, a va’aad hakashrus, and numerous Jewish agencies and institutions that collaborate and support one another. Portland is a city that still feels like a small town, with less traffic and easy access to hiking and bicycle trails, rivers, parks, mountains and the gorgeous Oregon coast. According to recent studies by US News and World Report, Portland is rated as the number 6 best place to live in the nation. And with an international airport just a 20-minute drive from the community, and multiple daily non-stop flights all across the US, feeling close and connected to family and friends on the East Coast is very doable.
