Jewish Family Service of Greater New Orleans (JFS) is a constituent agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans and a community impact partner of United Way of Southeast Louisiana. Overview
The JFS Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a senior executive responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the organization, including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, investment management, human resources and ensuring compliance with regulations, while strategically advising leadership on financial decisions to achieve JFS's mission and operational goals.
Key responsibilities may include:

Financial Planning and Budgeting: Developing and managing the annual operating budget, forecasting revenue and expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and monitoring budget adherence across all JFS programs.

Accounting and Reporting: Overseeing day-to-day accounting functions like accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger, ensuring accurate timely financial reporting to the Board of Directors and relevant stakeholders.

Employee Benefits Administration: Managing employee benefits packages including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and ensuring compliance with related regulations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. MBA a plus.

Knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles.

Proficient with QuickBooks Online and other online databases

Extensive experience in non-profit financial management, ideally within a social service organization

Minimum of three years of financial management experience.

Minimum of two years supervisory experience.

Strong leadership and team management skills

Expert knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

Effective communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex financial information Strong understanding of human resource principles and practices

Experience working in a social service environment or familiarity with related programs

Knowledge of relevant employment laws and regulations

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees, managers, and clients

Ability to manage confidential information and maintain employee privacy

Proficiency in HR software and systems for managing employee data

Working Conditions
This job involves sedentary work in the office, moderate to extensive phone and computer work, as well as occasional light lifting.
