Donna Klein Jewish Academy (DKJA) is a vibrant Community Jewish Day School committed to academic excellence, Jewish values, and inspiring a lifelong love of learning. Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced, knowledgeable, and inspiring Judaics educator who can help students engage and intertwine Jewish texts, history, and values. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with traditional texts including the Tanakh, passionate about meaningful Jewish learning, and committed to guiding students in becoming thoughtful, responsible, and engaged Jewish citizens of the world while fostering a strong connection to the Land and State of Israel.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  •  Teaching Judaic Studies classes to middle school students with a focus on:
    • Jewish history from the Enlightenment through the Holocaust
    • The rise of the Zionist movement and the founding of the State of Israel
    • Exploration of Jewish leadership through Tanakh (Hebrew Bible) and other Jewish sources
  • Designing and facilitating project-based learning (PBL) experiences that foster deep inquiry, collaboration, and real-world relevance
  • Helping students connect Jewish learning to their developing identities while fostering a sense of moral responsibility and the courage to stand up for the Jewish people and the values of justice and compassion
  • Facilitating the March to Miriam Project in partnership with the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County, enabling students to build meaningful relationships with Holocaust survivors or second-generation survivors and carry forward their stories with empathy, understanding, and commitment
  • Facilitating meaningful discussions that connect Jewish texts and history to students’ lives and ethical choices
  • Leading or co-leading daily tefillah
  • Collaborating with fellow faculty to develop interdisciplinary and values-based learning opportunities 
  • Serving as a grade level advisor to support the social, emotional, and executive functioning skills of students 
  • Contributing to the vibrant Jewish life of the school through programs, events, and initiatives 
  • Creating a warm, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment
  • Communicating effectively with parents, students, and colleagues

Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Jewish Education, Jewish Studies, History, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Experience teaching middle school-aged students
  • Strong knowledge of Jewish texts, including Tanakh
  • Familiarity with Holocaust education and modern Zionist history
  • Ability to design and implement project-based learning rooted in Jewish content and values
  • Comfort with leading tefillah and fostering spiritual connection
  • Deep commitment to cultivating student identity, agency, and a sense of responsibility to act with courage, compassion, and leadership
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Passion for Jewish learning and identity development
