Description

Ematai (www.ematai.org), a US-based non-profit organization guiding Jews through healthcare journeys with Jewish wisdom, seeks a dynamic Programming and Network Coordinator. This role focuses on expanding Ematai's initiatives locally and nationally, with a particular emphasis on three key programs:

 

Netivot: Ematai’s advance directive and conversation guide specifically made for the Jewish community (ematai.org/netivot

  • Expand awareness and usage of Netivot
  • Build networks with community members, rabbis, estate attorneys, and healthcare providers
  • Organize in-person and virtual events to explain document utilization to community members, rabbis, attorneys, and healthcare professionals

 

Consultation helpline: Ematai’s helpline provides urgent (24/7) halachic guidance as well as consultations for less urgent matters 

  • Spread awareness of the helpline to community members, rabbis, chaplains, and healthcare providers
  • Facilitate consultation meetings with the patient, family members, and doctors, as needed

 

Service network and collaborations: 

  • Build up Ematai’s physician network and create networks with other healthcare professionals 
  • Expand collaborations with bikur cholim groups, chaplains, hospitals, Jewish family services, and rabbis to ensure that Jewish patients receive optimal care in line with their Jewish values. Particular emphasis will be on identifying hospice providers able to offer culturally-sensitive treatment to Jewish patients and providing training sessions for hospice staff. 



Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop partnerships between Ematai and Jewish schools, shuls, community centers, hospitals, and hospice agencies
  • Provide support, education, and guidance to Jewish patients and healthcare providers about the cultural nuances of the Jewish community 
  • Organize, lead, and/or participate in educational events within the Jewish community
  • Engage in public speaking opportunities to promote our initiatives
  • Collaborate with Ematai staff and consultants to create new programming and strengthen existing initiatives 
  • Attentive to fundraising opportunities among organizational and individual partners, patients, and healthcare providers
  • Willingness to contribute in all areas of work necessary in a small non-profit organization

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a clinical environment (e.g. nurse, social worker).  Preference for someone with experience in hospice work, including direct patient care and/or back-office responsibilities.
  • Understanding of Jewish denominations and cultural nuances, including distinctions between different strands of Orthodoxy
  • Year-round residency within NY/NJ/CT 
  • Full-time job, work from home, flexible hours  
  • Willingness to occasionally travel within the US Northeast
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Self-starter with a passion for developing and advancing initiatives
  • Working knowledge of virtual meeting platforms and Microsoft Office

Compensation

$68,000 - $78,000 commensurate with experience.
