The Clergy Department Programming Coordinator plays a central role in planning, organizing, executing, and overseeing programming and events associated with the Clergy team. This individual will act as the primary coordinator for clergy-driven events and initiatives, ensuring that all logistics, scheduling, and administrative support are handled efficiently, allowing the clergy to focus on their core pastoral and spiritual responsibilities. The role is designed to remove clergy members from the operational aspects of event planning and execution, empowering them to concentrate on their primary duties while ensuring a smooth, high-quality programming experience for the community.

  • Event Planning and Management
  • Community Worship Events Coordination
  • Collaboration and coordination with other Temple departments
  • Temple Trips Administration
  • Clergy Calendar Coordination
  • Holiday Event and Program Logistics
  • Adult Education and Spirituality Program Coordination
  • Clergy Support & Administrative Assistance
  • Collaboration & Communication with Internal and External Stakeholders
  • Program Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
 
Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Event Planning, Religious Studies, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, event coordination, or similar roles. Experience within a religious or nonprofit setting is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to interact effectively with clergy, staff, volunteers, and community members.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage logistics for large events and perform under pressure.
  • Comfort with managing budgets and financial details for programs and events.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in managing complex tasks.
  • Knowledge of Jewish traditions, customs, and holidays is preferred but not required.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed, based on event schedules.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a synagogue or Jewish community setting.
  • Familiarity with event planning software and tools (e.g., Eventbrite, Google Suite, etc.).
  • Proven ability to manage teams of staff and volunteers effectively.
  • Experience working with high-level clergy and senior leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated experience using project management tools such as Asana, Trello, Jira, Monday.com, Microsoft Project, or equivalent platforms to plan, track, and manage project timelines, tasks, and team collaboration.
Language Skills
  • Proficiency in English is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with clergy, staff, and community members.
Travel
  • This role may require occasional travel to off-site events (e.g., guest speakers, community outreach, trips, or off-site programming).
  • Travel requirements will be minimal but may include occasional overnight stays depending on the nature of the event or program.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to lift and carry materials for event setup, such as boxes of supplies (up to 30 pounds).
  • The position may require standing or walking for extended periods during events or program execution.
  • Ability to work under pressure during high-stress events, including handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
Work Environment
  • Work is primarily performed in an office setting, with regular attendance at synagogue events, services, and community programs.
  • The role requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on programming needs.
  • This position will also involve occasional work outdoors (e.g., for outdoor worship events or community gatherings).
  • Collaborative, team-oriented work environment with frequent interaction across all levels of the synagogue’s clergy and staff.

This position is an in-office, Exempt, Full-Time (40 hour per week). Availability on weekends and holidays for events is a must. This position is primarily located on our main campus in Boca Raton, Florida at 333 SW 4th Avenue. Salary is commensurate with relevant work experience. All candidates must pass a Level II background screening and a drug test in order to be considered for this position.
