Job Title: Camp Registrar and Office Manager

Reports to: Camp Director

Hours:  10-15 hours per week Aug-Dec; 15-20 hours per week Jan-April; 40-50 hours per week May-July

                                 

Overview

Temple Rodef Shalom is a Reform Jewish congregation located in the Northern Virginia suburbs just outside Washington, DC. Since our founding in 1962, we have grown into the largest Jewish congregation in Virginia, serving over 1,750 households. We serve 200 families in our Early Childhood Center, nearly 800 students in our Religious School and hundreds of people each week who walk through our doors to pray, sing, learn, connect and mark life cycle moments. The Camp Registrar and Office Manager is critical to ensuring that our award-winning day camp, which serves 300 campers and hires 135 staff each summer, runs smoothy and efficiently.

 

Essential Responsibilities

Registrar

  • Work with Camp Director to set rates
  • Maintain online database (Campminder): create/update online camper application and forms, manage financial information such as billing categories and prices; build seasons, sessions and bunks
  • Manage camper registration: track enrollment, apply appropriate discounts and credits
  • Respond to questions from prospective families
  • Maintain all aspects of billing: adjust ledger items, installment billing, payment processing 
  • Create all online and print media content, communicate with prospective camper families

Operations Manager

  • Manage camp calendar including internal room reservations and public events for camp families
  • Oversee daily camp operations: confirm room set ups, ensure event sites are cleaned, daily attendance is taken, late arrival/early departure of campers is accounted for
  • Maintain camp website: update photos, rates, descriptions of camp activities
  • Track all revenue and expenses to ensure proper accounting in partnership with Temple finance team
  • Order camp supplies and meals, working with camp staff as needed
  • Maintain camp forms and tax information in partnership with Temple HR team
  • Manage camp communications: weekly emails to parents and staff, phone communications as needed
  • Serve as a member of the camp crisis team

  • Professional yet warm, friendly, and enthusiastic attitude for positive interaction with members
  • Sensitivity to confidential information and the appropriate maturity to exercise discretion
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, also self-motivated and able to take initiative
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint) and Google Suite; comfortable using a range of technology (Zoom, databases like Campminder, social media)
  • Knowledge of Wix and CSM programs a plus but not required
  • An understanding of synagogue life, Jewish holidays and customs a plus

 

Education and Experience

  • Associates degree required; four-year college degree preferred
  • Experience working with children is required: must be able to maintain patience and high energy
  • Experience in a customer service-related role required
  • Training in business and financial management a plus

 

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required during the summer
  • Ability to move throughout the temple grounds for long periods of time
  • Ability to sit at a desk doing computer work for 2-3 hours at a time
  • Temple Rodef Shalom has a vaccination policy in place; anyone hired must either be vaccinated or start the vaccination process within their first two weeks of employment
