Westchester Torah Academy (WTA) is a leading Orthodox Yeshiva Day School in New Rochelle, NY, serving children from 8 weeks through 8th grade in a state-of-the-art campus. WTA was founded 12 years ago as a trailblazing school committed to academic excellence in both Judaic and secular studies, integrating Torah values into every aspect of school life. Our Early Childhood program combines the Montessori method with a strong foundation in Jewish life and practice. In our dual-language classrooms, English- and Hebrew-speaking teachers offer the more than 100 students in our program with self-directed learning experiences that foster focus and concentration, independence, respect for materials, and their environment.

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Early Childhood Director to lead and manage our full-day programs for infants through kindergarten. As a key member of the WTA Leadership Team, the Director will ensure the success of our Jewish Montessori-based curriculum, foster strong relationships with families, and uphold the core values of our school. Reporting to the Head of School, this role requires expertise in both Montessori philosophy and Jewish tradition, along with a commitment to creating an engaging, developmentally-appropriate environment for our youngest learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the Early Childhood Program, including family communication, Montessori and Judaics curriculum development, and faculty supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing requirements and regulations (OCFS, UPK).
  • Manage the program’s budget, inventory, and collaborate with Communications Director and Executive Director on grant applications and reports.
  • Partner with Admissions Director for screening of student applicants and parent meetings.
  • Lead, design, and implement recruitment, training, onboarding, and professional development/coaching plans for a team of 20+ faculty members.
  • Collaborate with faculty to design Montessori-based curriculum and lesson plans.
  • Integrate Jewish teachings and Hebrew language into the program’s daily activities.
  • Evaluate program outcomes and data and implement strategic plans for continuous growth and improvement.
  • Coordinate evaluations and student services for all Early Childhood aged children
  • Provide periodic reports for Board and admin team.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, General Education, or a related field.
  • Montessori teaching credentials.
  • At least 5 years of experience in educational leadership, ideally within an early childhood or Montessori setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Jewish culture, texts, and Hebrew language.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and build effective teams.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary: $100,000 - $120,000, commensurate with experience.

  • Short Fridays and school closures on Jewish holidays.
  • Full-time, on-site, 12-month position.
