Temple Beth Shalom (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY) Seeks BMitzvah Tutor

Temple Beth Shalom – a Reform synagogue in the Rivertowns of Westchester – is looking for a BMitvzah Tutor to help our 7th Grade students prepare the prayers, Torah portion, and Haftarah portion that they will lead from the bimah on the Shabbat morning of their BMitzvah.

A BMitzvah Tutor at TBS earns $100/hour with an expected workload of up to 6 hours/week (meeting weekly with up to 12 students for a half-hour each). Some students may require two sessions in a week. Some students will need help with basic alef-bet decoding.

Tutors are expected to keep updated info on each student’s progress in a Google Doc for regular review by the Cantor, the Tutor’s immediate supervisor.

The Tutor is expected to meet with students on site at Temple Beth Shalom during the shul’s normal open hours, though by family request sessions may be scheduled at other times virtually.

This position runs from September to the end of June.
