Digital Communications Specialist / Social Media

The Leffell School | Hartsdale, NY, United States

Posted Date 5/05/2022

The Leffell School, a K-12 Jewish independent school serving 825 students on two campuses in Westchester County, is looking for a digital communications specialist.

The digital communications specialist will be an integral part of the communications team and will leverage various channels to increase the school’s brand awareness among multiple constituencies, including prospective families, current families, alumni, and donors. This person should be up-to-date on the latest social media platforms and trends and know how to create fresh content that stops the scrolling, engages the audience, and sparks word-of-mouth recommendations — ultimately leading to an increase in student applications and philanthropic contributions.

Responsibilities include:

  • With the director of communications, plan and execute a content calendar.
  • Manage the school's public-facing website to continually be a relevant, informative and effective introduction to the school.
  • Manage current owned channels (Facebook, Instagram) including community management and timely responses, and identify and launch additional social media channels as appropriate.
  • Actively take on social listening of peer/competitive organizations to glean best practices and insights that can be applied to Leffell School media.
  • Create and/or curate compelling content (photos, videos, interviews, etc.) related to the school, including academics, sports, arts, trips and other special programs.
  • Create weekly Flashback Friday video featured in community-wide newsletter.
  • Identify external social media partnerships, marketing opportunities, and paid advertising programs that can broaden our reach and increase awareness of The Leffell School.
  • Determine and measure success metrics and revise strategy and tactics to improve upon successes and implement lessons learned.
  • Support the communications and development teams of the Office of Institutional Advancement in planning and executing events (back-to-school picnic, annual gala, golf and tennis fundraiser, etc.).

  • Love of all things social media and desire to keep up-to-date on the latest trends and new ways to creatively build and engage an audience.
  • Experience with multiple digital platforms and social media channels, including content creation, with demonstrated success in growing audiences.
  • Photography and video production and editing skills.
  • Solid understanding of SEO, web traffic metrics, and social media KPIs.
  • Effective written communications skills.
  • Sharp attention to detail to ensure flawless execution, particularly in public-facing communications.
  • Keen artistic eye for video editing, photography, and graphic design.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and a team player.
  • Familiarity with Judaism, Jewish holidays, and Hebrew is helpful in the role but not required.
  • Driver’s license and car, as digital communications specialist will be expected to spend time on both school campuses to capture photo and video content.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • This is a year-round, full-time position Monday – Thursday 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. (1:30 p.m. November – March). Limited weekend and evening hours at select school events.
  • Attractive benefits program including health, dental, and retirement
  • Generous PTO including the major Jewish holidays, school breaks, and additional vacation/personal days
  • Salary range: $45,000 - $60,000
