Kashrut Administrator - Hartford Kashrut Commission is pursing the hiring of an inaugural Kashrut Administrator to begin employment approximately May 1, 2024.

This position will report directly to the HKC board and is 3/4 time (about 30 hours a week). Salaried role -- Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities will include:

Running the day-to-day Vaad operations, including but not limited to:

  • Working with the HKC Board of Directors on the development and ongoing implementation of the Vaad’s mission, strategic and development plan.
  • Scheduling all Mashgiach coverage.
  • Enforcing policy/monitoring and visiting commercial accounts.
  • Supervising and supporting on site Mashgichim, including onsite visits.
  • Composing, compiling and maintaining policies and protocols for Vaad manual
  • Recruit Mashgichim and manage mashgiach pool

 

In addition, HKC hopes to incorporate the following “Aspirational Roles” for this position over the next 24 months:

  • Representing the Vaad in the Community.
  • Maintaining the Vaad’s website and social media platforms.
  • Coordinating Vaad events and email marketing.

Qualifications:

  • Strategic and creative thinker, planner, and self-starter
  • College Degree or equivalent - is preferred but not required.
  • Some food service or Mashgiach experience
  • Strong administration skills
  • Rabbinic Ordination --  preferred but not required.
