This position leads the vision, direction, and strategy of the JFS Boulder office. Areas of work include managing all Boulder staff and budgets, leading program development and implementation and is involved in grant support and donor engagement. JFS Boulder offers a variety of programs including ongoing Marshall Fire response through case management, financial assistance, and a county mental health response through the Boulder County Crisis Counseling (BCCC); helping older adults stay supported, connected, and engaged as they age; providing quality mental health counseling, support groups and care management to adults and families; offering care management, counseling, and community enrichment to people with disabilities; providing emergency housing assistance; and providing support for adults through a friendly visitor volunteer and para-chaplain program.

Salary Range: $72,000 - $118,000
Hiring Range:
$72,000 - $110,000

JFS supports a flexible work environment with hybrid work options available to most positions.


  • Degree in Human Services, business, nonprofit management, or related field.

  • MA/MSW degree in a mental health discipline strongly preferred.


  • Requires 3-5 years' experience providing human services to vulnerable populations and minimum of 2 years' management experience.


  • Familiarity with Jewish culture and community, preferred.

  • Knowledge and relationships with community organizations serving the Boulder community, required.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work successfully with all levels of staff, Boulder ambassador committee and community organizations.        

  • Good organizational skills and administrative abilities.

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft 365 required.

  • Familiarity with clinical record management systems preferred.

  • Flexibility in days and hours available for scheduled work including weekends.

Program Support:

  • Represent JFS In Boulder community meetings and explores new community partnerships to increase client impact and program/department revenue.

  • Develops collaborative relationships with referral agencies and other constituents.

  • Maximizes working relationships and business opportunities with funders and community organizations.

  • Works closely with JFS Boulder ambassador committee chairs and oversees activities of Committee.

  • Attends appropriate agency and department meetings.

  • Develop, plan, coordinate, and supervise mental health services to improve quality of life for clients

Strategic Support:

  • In partnership with CEO and COO, directs local expansion strategies by strengthening community, foundation, and donor relations.

  • Partners with other JFS Directors to improve Boulder program operations.

  • Monitors changing landscape of the Boulder community to address gaps in services.

  • Proposes and develops new funding sources.

  • Collaborates with the Denver Development team to ensure continued and new foundation and donor funding for programming.

Program Operations and Evaluation:

  • Guides Boulder program optimization.

  • Ensures programs are evaluated and results shared to stakeholders.

  • Inform decision making, measure progress and demonstrate Impact on outcomes.

  • Ultimately responsible or operational success and profit and loss, Including revenue, in the Boulder office.


  • Supervises Boulder-based staff

  • As needed, recruits, hires, and orients new staff.

  • Works with staff to complete yearly goals and evaluation.

Budgets and Earned Revenue:

  • Partners with CEO and CFO to monitor monthly program revenues and expenses.

  • Develops the annual Boulder budget of approximately $1.3M.


  • In partnership with Denver leadership, supports timely performance of JFS activities and obligations related to grant funding.

  • Reviews and provides strategic Input on large multi-service grant proposals and reports.
