Congregation Beth El seeks an Assistant Director of Camp Kee Tov. This is a full-time
position, working directly with the Director of Camp Kee Tov. The position has generous

For over 50 years, Camp Kee Tov is a place where lifelong relationships have been
formed between the campers, the counselors, and the community. The person in this
position will assist the director in the design and operation of the overall camp program.
This includes the activities and events created for the campers, as well as the logistical
support that enables those experiences to occur and succeed.

Candidates should have experience and aptitude helping to manage in a calm, clear
and supportive way. A friendly, positive and professional attitude is fundamental, as is
taking the initiative to solve problems, while treating others with courtesy and respect.

JOB TITLE: Assistant Director of Camp Kee Tov
REPORTS TO: Director of Camp Kee Tov
POSITION TYPE: Full Time, Exempt
Pay Range: $59,000 - $61,000 per year, depending on experience

JOB DUTIES

CAMP LEADERSHIP
? Serve as a member of the camp’s professional team and partner with
colleagues on designated projects
? Support and manage programmatic components of summer and year-round
camp experiences
? Support all Jewish Life programs, initiatives, and efforts on a year-round basis
? Support the emotional well-being of campers and staff throughout the summer in
relation to the systems established by the camp to support these efforts
? Maintain a consistent presence as a leader within the camp community with
respect to role modeling of institutional and racial equity, diversity, and inclusion
(REDI) principles, Jewish values, supervision and accountability for all rules and
procedures, and dedication in all respects to the camp’s mission and vision

CAMPER ENGAGEMENT, RECRUITMENT & RETENTION
? Assist CKT director with recruitment and retention of year-round program
participants and campers
? Assist CKT director with scheduling, coordination, and marketing
? Maintain communications, correspondence, and provide excellent customer
service for all campers, families, and various program participants to assure the
highest level of customer service and program retention at camp
? Help solve behavior management issues with campers
? Manage individual family conversations regarding special circumstances and
accommodations
? Participate in the creation, planning, coordination, and execution of camp
programs and retreats, both summer and off-season, and the initiation and/or
follow-through with projects for the benefit of camp, which may be related to
existing areas of operations or new ideas

STAFF ENGAGEMENT, RECRUITMENT, TRAINING, & RETENTION
? Assist with the design and marketing of staff positions, participate in interview
and hiring processes
? Help develop and facilitate staff orientation and training
? Assist CKT Director in the hiring, training, and supervision of CKT staff
? Support of all camp programs and activities to effectively develop staff
members as leaders at camp (as needed, provide guidance, support,
professional development, consultation, and educational resources)
? Help with inter-staff/intra-staff conflicts
? Assist with Yala (teen program at Beth El)
COMMUNICATION & OPERATIONS
? Participate in the preparation of camp for summer experience, including
inventory control, purchasing, organization, setup, and other related tasks
? Set up summer CKT office operations including computer and phone systems in
the Beth El front office in collaboration with Beth El office staff
? Create daily schedules and master calendars for camp sessions
? Create content for the camp website and social media presence assuring a
positive, engaging image with a focus on recruiting and retaining campers and
staff
? Maintain ongoing and direct communication with current and potential camp
families and staff
? Support camp director in marketing and implementation of development
agenda, events, and outreach
? Attend various camp recruiting events, including some weeknights and weekend
days

CAMP REGISTRATION PROCESSES (REGISTRATION, PAYMENT & FINANCIAL AID)
? Process registration and/or update registration and financial aid forms
? Process financial aid applications and coordinate with CBE executive director;
mail award notification and process financial aid appeals
? Manage program caps and waitlists
? Act as the initial point of contact for incoming communications from parents,
partners, and the general community
? Support registration publicity (social media, brochure proofing & printing)
? Track payment deadlines and payment plans; communicate payment
information to parents and prepare reports for the director
? Process payments in the camp database and consolidate them for the
accounting office
PARENT/CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
? Assist the director with parent communication (emails, mailings, brochures) and
be the primary point of contact during the summer months
? Have detailed knowledge of the camp day and field questions/concerns that
arise
? Assist the director in planning and leading CKT Reunion Shabbat-December

SUMMER SPECIFIC DUTIES
? The assistant director is the primary point of contact for families and manages
the front desk
? Manage program directors and rashim with bus lists, attendance, and supplies
? Create & track attendance and chaverim sign-in/out processes
? Assist the director in planning and executing staff training including
programming, meetings, food coordination, meal prep/cleanup, and operations
of staff training
? Plan & lead friday night activities with the director (7:30-10:00 pm usually)
? Attend/contribute to all-staff meetings
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
? Bachelor’s Degree preferred
? Has experience and skills as an innovator, designer, facilitator, conductor,
community organizer, trainer, and coach
? Can relate to, inspire, provide feedback to, and empathize with diverse
audiences
? Is a self-starter and able to work both independently and collaboratively
? Demonstrated experience prioritizing and supporting Racial Equity, Diversity, &
Inclusion (i.e., ableism, LGBTQ+, antiracism, etc.) programs
? Has a “can-do” mindset and is willing to learn
? Has experience and enjoys working with children, preferred experience in a
Jewish educational or camp setting
? Has expertise with various forms of social media, marketing, and communications
? Has a passion for Jewish camps and experiential education
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to
effectively communicate with internal and external customers
? Excellent computer and cell phone proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and
Gmail; texting)
? Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a
positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
? Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within
parameters of instructions given prescribed routines, and standard accepted
practices as well as delegate work to others

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
? Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA,
and other federal, state, and local standards
? Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on the telephone
? Must possess a valid California license and have access to an automobile
