Job Description

The Jewish Federation of Greater Houston seeks to further enhance our capacity both to create and support a sense of belonging for children with disabilities and their families in the fabric of the Jewish community. Creating a part-time role for a Jewish Education Inclusion Coordinator is the first step to meet the goal of establishing a coordinated effort to address disability inclusion in all aspects of Jewish education for ages 0-18 in the Greater Houston area. The Jewish Education Inclusion Coordinator will be a community resource who will partner with organizations that provide formal and informal Jewish education and programming to children (birth to 18 years of age).
 
Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop community infrastructure to support day schools to provide resources to meet needs of all students
      o Assess the current landscape with access to community studies and research
      o Collaborate with school partners to create processes and procedures that fit the needs of each day school.
• Facilitate Day School professionals’ student support network by bringing day school professionals together for collaboration, resource sharing, and coordination of services.
• Serve as a parent support resource, helping concierge parents to access diagnostic services and specialists to address student needs.
• Expand the University of Houston clinic and language screenings partnership services in day schools and early childhood schools.
• Collaborate with Alexander Jewish Family Service to meet the emerging needs of students with disabilities and their families, with the goal for Alexander JFS to become a diagnostic resource for the Jewish community.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in special education, social work or related field and preferred five years of experience in a school setting
• Familiar with and experienced with Jewish education and Judaism through education, training and/or experience
• Extensive experience working collaboratively and effectively with all levels of staff and volunteer leaders within an organization
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Open-minded, flexible to help design and evolve the opportunity set as these efforts evolve
Salary48.00 - 50.00 Hour
